Files / Media link brings me to 404 error

I've been working on my self hosted server for some time now and thought I would just now utilize the files/media organization to help keep everything in one place. I have never clicked the link before, but now when I click on it, it brings me to a 404 error. I looked in the root directory that the files should be in, and they are there but for some reason I'm getting a 404 error. I looked on the forums here and someone has mentioned something about the GD library and if you don't have it then you will get a few errors. I do have the GD library enabled which is good... Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I even replaced the entire directory with a fresh install and it still doesn't work.

Have you modified any links in the PHP data? Changed any names of directories? Jake

I haven't changed any links or any directories. I even did a fresh install of the whole BT-server and still the files/media link doesn't work...
