Upgrade Your Scringo SDK to Support the New Twitter API

Just got this email from Scringo...and I already submitted my app to Apple on Friday...bad timing I guess :-) Oh well, if they reject it, I might add this before submitting it again, or wait and provide an update...how long does Apple take to approve an app these days? I guess no news is good news since they haven't rejected it (yet) :-) --------- Dear Scringo developer, Due to latest deprecation of the Twitter API v1, and moving to API v1.1, your users may experience difficulties connecting to Twitter. Therefore, if you haven't done so already, we encourage you to upgrade your app with the latest Scringo SDK (2.2.1 and above). Upgrading to this version is also a good opportunity for you to enable your users to sign up using their email address (dedicated to those users who don't feel comfortable signing up with their Facebook or Twitter accounts). You can read all about it on this blog post . If you have any questions regarding this upgrade, please reply to this email or send a new one to [email protected]. Good luck! -Ran

@jvalley. Thanks! That's a handy link. According to the latest review times, it should be taking 5 days (which includes weekends since Apple works on the weekend too) :-) So, since Friday, it's been 5 days. Hoping I wake up to good news tomorrow :-)

Hmmm...I just checked the status of the app in iTunes Connect and it still says "Waiting for Review"...so it looks like they haven't gotten around to it yet...so those 5-day times might be off a bit :-) Wonder how long they take once they actually start reviewing the app :-)

Yep, I looked at the tweets listed on the site and it looks like it could be anywhere from 5-12 days :-) Are you using Scringo? Are you rushing to update the SDK? :-)

Just had a thought. Maybe I don't need to upgrade since I added the Scringo SDK recently...will have to check which version is in my app...if it's 2.2.1 and above, then no need to upgrade :-) But where do you check the version...doesn't seem to be showing in the Scringo control panel :-)

My small understanding is that your app goes into a review queue. Doesn't mean it's being reviewed at that time.. If its in a queue with a few larger apps before you it may take time for the reviewer to get to it. I just got a update in however I submitted updates for two other before this one. One is 6 days old and one is 4 days old.. You never know I guess

Well, it's been 6 days now, and app is still "Waiting for Review", so it looks like no one has looked at it yet. I have a feeling that if it's your first app, they put you lower on the review process list :-)

I shouldn't worry about it too much. Wait and see if the twitter works in the app once published. Mine are tweeting fine and I'm sure they're no newer than 2.1.6. Scringo are currently releasing a new SDK pretty much each week at the moment, so wait until you're updating the app anyway then throw the up to date scringo in

@trouty. OK, I ran the app in Xcode, and the debugger tells me I'm using 2.1.10: ...2013-06-14 07:12:56.568 app[5068:c07] Scringo - ... Starting Scringo 2.1.10 so slightly newer than yours :-)

@trouty. This is what I heard back from Scringo, so I'm adding this as my first update to the app (once Apple finally approves it - 8 days now and the app is still "Waiting for Review" in iTunesConnect). ------ Hi Steve, You should upgrade to latest version. It may still work with 2.1.10, but it is completely up to Twitter and they can stop any time. So bottom line, I recommend you to upgrade, but there's no need to panic (: Best, -R
