The back button isn't consistent in how it steps back

I've got menus linking to sub menus linking to sub menus and eventually linking to content. In iOS if I'm viewing a sub menu or the content and I click back I go up one level In android if I click back I go to the home screen To a certain extent android is consistent but it would be better for it to step back. Is there a setting I've missed somewhere?

Hello, No, there is no setting that you've missed...this is all working as designed. As you've noticed, the back buttons work differently on the different platform, and Android complicates things by allowing the soft back buttons as well. Perhaps somebody can chime in on how to fix this programmatically, but, as it stands now, this is just how it is. :-( Mark

Almost everything can be fixed programmatically, but changing core design of an operating system is not wise. Users on one platform come to expect this and that behavior, although it might seem ridiculous if you are constantly using the other platform. Fixing back buttons will more annoy users than it will bring any good, so if not really pressed to change things, leave them be.

Consistency is the key, if users are used to something then I'll leave well alone. Thanks for the feedback.
