iOS 7 - thoughts? should we update?

Just saw the videos of iOS7 and had a few thoughts. What are everyone's thoughts on iOS 7? Are you going to update to IOS 7 beta 1 or should you wait? How will iOS7 affect buzztouch? And will Apple require us to update apps to the new flat design? Just icons?

Nearly made it through Monday! As for updating I don't like to update my daily use phone with the beta releases but do drop them on my test devices. I'm excited about it, always am though. As for Buzztouch each new iteration of iOS means some things have to change but David and the team alwys make this painless.

If you have got multiple test devices don't put it on your main one, the first beta can be shocking with battery life and little bugs, have a play with it first on the simulator or an older test phone. I get the feeling there will be a lot of changes, feel I may be familiar with most as I've been using most of their ideas anyway on cocoa controls, I think they looked at cydia and cocoa and said I'll ahve that, and that, oh yeah and that lol

Have already downloaded. Loving every second, and actually the battery isn't too bad. I can spot two tiny bugs. That's all.

But is it worth having a phone that is buggy, obviously I wanna test on my iphone 5 it's got the best shiz but I'm gonna hold back see how the iphone 4 gets with it. Plus if it's your only test device you won't be rely able to see if your code works now, you would have to use xcode 5 which means you won't be able to compile and submit and app to the App Store as it's in beta, becomes a massive pain in the ass

I guess it's a good rule of thumb to wait and let others mess with it :) David https://buzztouchmods.com

So, can we run two copies of XCode on one machine? (i.e., the new beta for development and the current 4.X for submitting apps)?

yeah you can run two copies, it does get a bit confusing when the full release comes out though, i think I had 3 open when I first started one that could go back to Iphone, Xcode 4.2 and a beta of xcode 4.3 or something like that the all set up their own derived data folders

iOS 6 Beta damaged my 4s, this time, I ordered an iPod 5th Gen to test with. (Last year, my phone would overheat, and crash almost every day with the iOS 6 Beta) Jake

I just upgraded to iOS 7. Its pretty darn slick. It does seem to have some issues though. I can already tell that BuzzTouch apps not showing with some weird color issues. The whole OS seems to run a bit slower, but it could be that I am running on iPhone4s and not the 5. I will have to see how it does tomorrow but the battery seems to be running out a little bit faster. Other than a few little bugs here and there, it seems to be REALLY nice:)

Will we be able to update out BT apps to look more "native" to iOS 7? Jake

Jake - that all depends on how much the software does for us. I'm guessing its not bad or every app out there would have to be redone.
