why droids will never take over the world

...because they're just plain stupid. Sorry - I just finished working on a custom plugin for someone that was both iOS and Android, and the Android side was a complete pain in the arse for something so simple to do on iOS. Had to let some steam off!

No problem. We certainly understand. Hope to see it, or a resemblance of it in the market soon! Cheers! -- Smug

I feel your pain Chris, this is why some time ago I posted a thread about iOS Vs Android. Like you, I cannot for the life of me understand why Android have overly complicated their platform for build apps. I have to say, I have pretty much given up on Android. The end user never seems to be satisfied, but I don't blame them. Anyway Chris, whatever it is you are working on, GOOD LUCK!, sounds like you need it.

LOL. I know I'm missing a huge market by not cross platforming, but the last time I tried doing a simple update to my android apps I ended up doing 2 all nighters and and chucking a glass cup at the wall. Needless to say the girlfriend was not happy at me and I had to clean the shards. I'm pretty much done ever touching eclipse or android unless a client is paying me to go through hell. Hang in there Chris, don't end up like me! Cheers, David

Thanks for commiserating with me! Just a few minutes of tweaks to do today, but I got the hard part done last night. Lets just say frames are so much easier to work with than layouts!

@Smug - probably wont see this one in the market - it was way too particular to a client's needs. Now I have some other custom plugins I'm working on that should find their way here at some point... ;)

@chris1 and everyone, I'm trying to learn IOS and I'm not getting it, so I kinda feel the same way about IOS, as you feel about Android. Not sure why. LA

It's probably all about where you start from... The good news is that with each hurdle overcome, future projects are that much easier. This one should help me bridge the gap between iOS and Android a bit. I'm thinking when I get some time (lol) I should be ae to turn the animated circle menu plugin into Android now. ... Maybe.

@chris1, I would agree, I started with Android, so I feel "at home" with it. With that said, I have looked at the new fragments and it looks a bit difficult and I feel like I have to start over with Android. LA

I had a Android for a few years moving to the iPhone 5 back in December " needed it to finish a project" I used to get confused with the term app (used to think app was something that did a function and game is well game). Not getting into all the fragmentation issues with Android cause I hate it too, and user interface for graphic layout is horrible for developers. --- The market is ending up with a lot of outdated and stale apps. One reason why I keep going back to Android - It really allows you to take advantage of the phones full hardware and OS. Miss the livewall papers and widgets, I sure hope iOS7 brings some of this.. I was so mad that apple approved then rejected one of my apps. It had a simple function that allowed to print to apples built in printing feature. Create PDF files from about everything.

LA, I'm surprise that you have the same feeling with iOS. I'm no coder and totally hate code, don't get it, doubt I'll ever will, but I find iOS development so much easier to work with and I'm a complete novice. Although its fair to say that my learning for iOS has been made extremely simple and easy when you have people like Kittsy, Chris1, PSMDanny, MrDavid and a few others that help you explain things in dummy terms.

Android. Hmm. Agree with most on here and @MrDavid comments about clients wanting Android. Been lucky enough to get some solid help from @raveyd and the good chief bottle washer David.

fragmentation - is all the different devices and versions out there. I thought that I seen buzztouch was only going to support 3.0 and up.. Here are the latest release numbers - The issue is a lot of the market is still running 2.3.X if you don't support that market you lose a lot of users. http://thenextweb.com/google/2013/04/03/android-jelly-bean-hits-25-adoption-and-gingerbread-falls-below-40-as-google-changes-how-it-counts-users/
