1. Another Reason to build that app!…and 2. Expo 2015

Hi all, It’s been a while since I’ve been on the forum and I have to say I have missed you folks :-) Initially when I got into this app building business, my idea was that I would try to make my money by selling apps, basically building one app after another. What’s happened in reality is much different than what I planned - I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out that my first app acted a bit like a calling card: the customer liked the creative and innovative side of it and basically asked “well, can you also do this... and this.. and this?” and things have developed on from there. I have since made a whole bunch of other media for him (films, flyers, posters etc.) and have been helping create ideas and manage events his organisation is involved in. So, perhaps there's a message there for other folks who are thinking of getting into the app business with BT but are not sure how to make money doing so - like me, you might find it as a great way for getting visibility within an organisation who may also have other business to offer you as well. So I really want to thank you David, and all the folks at Buzztouch, for giving me the opportunity to open doors to exciting new business by building apps. Expo 2015: this brings me onto my second point which is a call for help and suggestions: We are looking into developing an app for Expo 2015 which will be in Milan from May to October of that year. Varese, which is a town on the doorstep of Milan, is looking at ways of leveraging the arrival of millions of visitors to Expo (up to 20 million visitors are expected) to get them to come visit Varese - eat in Varese, shop in Varese, stay in Varese. Any ideas on what needs to go into an app like this, to really engage the user? Which travel apps work best, in your opinion? How to represent all interested businesses in the app (shops, restaurants, hotels)? The idea then is to make sure that the QR code for the app is in every airline magazine during the Expo period so that users are downloading the app as they arrive if not before. Many thanks in advance for any assistance/suggestions you can provide!!! Onwards and upwards with Buzztouch!!! Derval

One of the features in my app that got very good response was the simple HTML 'emergency' numbers screen. It's merely an HTML screen with numbers to the village police, fire departments, ambulances, etcetera... Cheers! -- Smug

What about using the Map and Aurasma Integration plugins to create some sort of challenge, historical tour... or whatever. Maybe work with businesses, offer discounts on products if they find the correct symbol. You could include photos of the symbols you use in the app too.

Having a map with different types of pins - restaurants, hotels, shops, etc - would be absolutely essential. If I were there visiting, and using the app, I would want the ability to hit a menu item, select what I'm looking for (like somewhere to eat), and then have a map display it compared to where I am. I'm assuming this is a typical European town where people can walk from place to place. I'd also want a description of the destination, as well as perhaps some reviews. Mark

@Iaxia - I think the idea of users getting discounts on products is one that my customer would like a lot! Thanks for that. @GoNorthWest - the map with pins is a definite, I agree. The reviews are essential too. Most of what’s available at the moment though, is in Italian only. Will have to look at making it all more international! Thanks all for you input!
