New Versions

Does one have to generate another provisional profile for distribution for an upgrade version of an app that is already published?

I just submitted an update. It's just piece of cake: no new nothing needed, just connect your iphone or ipad, archive, and then validate and distribute. Of course you have to do the stuff on itunes beforehand. Cheers!

Thank you everyone....I just remembered to change version in Target Summary after I "failed to sign" due to invalid version. Details, details, details. New version is waiting for review.

In your BT_Config.txt file; Changing the 'Mode' from 'Design' to 'Live' allows you to make changes in your BT Control Panel that won't affect your published apps until you 'publish' the changes... In your BT_Config.txt file, in the header section (where you find the api and report to cloud and all that) there is a JSON value similar to "Mode":"Design" that you'll want to change to "Mode":"Live" before you release it... If you don't change it, it's not the end of the world, it will just be like 'pre-bt 2.1.8' behavior. Cheers! -- Smug

Wait a second. This is sort of like something I want to do. I have an app that's live in iTunes, and I want to make some changes. It's a quiz app, and I'd like to use the BT Carousel, for one thing. Is there a way to "freeze" the app in Buzztouch so it won't mess with people who have already bought it?

Daniel, only if you've implemented the 'Live' mode in your BT_Config.txt file... Otherwise, you may want to build a temporary app to test, and rebuild the original when you're happy. Cheers! -- Smug

Cool. I read somewhere else that I can compile my app all over now in design mode, and submit that as version 2.0. Then, pretty much immediately after that is approved, start making the changes I want, since it will be in design mode, and then compile again to submit version 3.0, which will be what I want it to be, in design mode. And if I wanted to, I could then take that same app, compile AGAIN in love mode and submit, then I could make live additions to quiz questions, right?? Although it may be easier to just make a whole new app like I want it in design mode. Crap this is confusing!! Is the default, when you download the buzztouch source code, live mode?

Well, the way it's designed is to have the 'Live' mode be the version published in the app stores. In 'Live' mode, no changes in your control panel are 'activated' to a Live device, *until* you publish the change. In Design mode, *all* changes in the control panel are passed on to all devices in 'Design' mode. So, you design and test your app while in design mode. When you're happy with it, compile it using a 'Live' mode configuration file, and submit it to the app store. Then, after it's published you can still test anything you want, and the apps 'in the wild' will not notice them until you're happy with the results, and 'publish' the new configuration. If you're not happy, change it back and no one will ever know. Cheers! -- Smug
