Push Notifications Link

Hi all, Not sure if this is in the correct category, but here goes. I'm wondering if anyone has a solution for having a link - which will allow users to 're-register' for Push Notifications from within the app? I thought of a URL pointing to: https://www.buzztouch.com/api/app/?command=registerForPush&appGuid=xxx&apiKey=xxx&apiSecret=xxx&deviceId=[deviceId]&deviceLatitude=[deviceLatitude]&deviceLongitude=[deviceLongitude]&deviceModel=[deviceModel]&userId=[userId] But obviously a standard Custom URL screen won't send across the userID, deviceID values etc. I can guarantee a lot of users who've downloaded my particular app will have clicked no to push, but then when it comes to winter time - I know they'll want it switching on. I was trying to make this an easier process for them from within the app. Many thanks for any pointers.

Thanks! I thought about a PHP script...but not sure whether I could get it to send the variables in a URL - the script would then get the variables from the URL, send to BuzzTouch and report back....?

I thought about this after your tickle ... By the Apple rules, the enabling of the Push Notification can only be done by the User. I cannot think of any way to inform-pester the User to go enable PN in the Settings app. -- Niraj

This would only be done by the user - I was more thinking of a page which essentially asked them "If you want to enable push notifications, please click this button << Button >> "

From the Web Control Panel, you could enable a Splash screen with that wording. Yet, the elusive button will not be available for the User to tap. Instead, the Splash Screen would have instructions on going into Settings to enable Push Notifications for your App. There are two things wrong with that approach: 1. All Users will get that Splash Screen the next time they run your App. Even the people who had accepted Push Notifications for your App. 2. The Splash Screen will tell the Users to walk away from your App at the very moment they launched your App to actually use it. Sorry, I don't see a perfect solution. -- Niraj

Hey! I just realized that Push Notifications are "renewed" when an UPDATE to an App is downloaded onto an iOS Device. Upon the first launch of the updated version of the App, I get asked if I want to allow for Push Notifications! So ... Simply release an update to your App to get all those tardy folks onto your Push Notifications list. -- Niraj
