Eclipse reports null when running app on emulator?

I've followed @GoNorthWest 's video on opening/ running the app on eclipse and the video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV3Ofi2602I I followed everything in the video and everything worked perfectly fine, but after running the emulator (I'm able to unlock the screen, view all apps) but when I click on my app I get this error: [2013-05-29 18:46:57 - BT_activity_root] Failed to install BT_activity_root.apk on device 'emulator-5554! [2013-05-29 18:46:57 - BT_activity_root] (null) [2013-05-29 18:46:57 - BT_activity_root] Launch canceled! Not really sure why. I know my app isn't finished yet, but I wanted to run the code I had so far, such as the splash screen to see how things were going. Any help? Thanks!

Hi Jana, Was there anything before the first line, or after the last? What about any LogCat output? Basically, Eclipse failed to installed the app onto your emulator. It's not a buzztouch issue, but rather a problem in Eclipse. We just need to figure out what! The error you see would have occurred as Eclipse tried to send the app over to the Emulator. Any other logs you can provide us? Mark

For some reason LogCat doesn't show up on my Eclipse but on console this is the last thing it said: [2013-05-29 18:44:48 - BT_activity_root] HOME is up on device 'emulator-5554' [2013-05-29 18:44:48 - BT_activity_root] Uploading BT_activity_root.apk onto device 'emulator-5554' [2013-05-29 18:44:49 - BT_activity_root] Installing BT_activity_root.apk... Which was basically the same thing in your video except it successfully worked for you after and it crashed for me.. No idea why! And BTW, your video was amazing!

At softball practice... On my YouTube channel, there's a video that shows you how to add views like LogCat to Eclipse. Mark

Jana, Some of your problems sound familiar to mine. I had to complete delete all my files, even some I forgot I put in another location and start new with downloading the code and then opening into Eclipse. One problem I was having (simple as it may seem) is I was trying to open a new android project even though all I needed to do is create a new project from the code that was there. I already knew this, but I was trying to do both. I know this may seem simple to some, but for me this was a learning process, and might help in what you are coming up against. Just thought I would share since it seems we are about the same place and both using eclipse.

Also, if you haven't yet take a look at the link to the android site found here in buzztouch. It is very helpful for understanding some of the language and even has some extra learning tools there. http://developer.android.com/training/index.html

Thanks for the help, Chauncey. I'll get working on it soon and see if the error has been fixed. And thanks for the site!
