Android - Help with SEO / ASO and making money

Hello! I've been concentrating on iOS mostly so far... so the big topics were 1) Figure out ASO in the store so the app could be found by the most people (icon, theme, art/screenshots, keywords, etc) 2) Best ways to make money on iOS I'm just starting to move over to Android now so am working on creating a blueprint to cover the same for ASO & $. So far I've got this. Would love any info on successes you've had on Android. ANDROID ASO: - Figure out most popular terms for your app using google tools, mobile search option - Words in app title (max 30 chars) very important - Popular terms / words to be put in app description up to 5 times for max impact (but no more) - Do not use same text in multiple apps even if apps are similar - Text must flow and not be put together just for keyword cramming ANDROID $: - Revmob is not good - Playhaven and Chartboost are good - Some people have had good reports with startapp - Potential for push notifications with CPA offers to get users to download free game Any others for Android? Especially proven ones? Much obliged :D Elaine.

Hello Elaine, This list is really good and useful for others too. Just would like to add few things in here. - Avoid keywords or else Google may suspend your account (it happened with some of my friends). Instead of using keywords, cover all the words in the description with a good sentence. - Airpush and Applovin are far much better than others in terms of revenue. - Dont use Startapp unless you get huge download traffic. - Some users will scream on you for using startapp and airpush because some antivirus show these sdk's as a threat. I have now been avoiding startapp because of low revenue but i still use airpush coz it gives handsome revenue. - Applovin and Admob are really safe ad networks. Applovin pays more than Admob but i have some app with Admob which have eCpm of more than $6. - Use Scringo if you want social feature in your app along with an option to earn revenue from ads. I have not used chartboost and playhaven so i cannot tell more about them. But i think playhaven is mostly for gaming apps.

Great! I echo what both you say and especially Sandeep. - I have found that reviews and Google+ votes help in ranking as well. - Of course the more downloads and less uninstalls help with ranking! - Airpush and Applovin are my top Android choices (haven't tried admob yet) - Chartboost was great before they limited to games only. - Scringo brings awesome networking that result in more users and of course their ad network is growing. I was surprised last month - I agree with not stuffing the description with keywords. A nice beefy description with a mix of long tail keywords and general keywords - Believe it or not. The large banner and promo banner is important and will be more in the future.

To follow up.. - Has anyone had recent success with startapp? It is that was it better but now its not so good? - Anyone doing push notifications with CPA offers for free games or similar & having any luck? - Applovin is banner & intersistial I think, are you just using the intersistial? - Airpush - any favourite ad types to use? - Anyone tried IAPs on android? Thanks again! Elaine

-As i stated earlier, i do not use startapp recently because of complains from users of it being a virus. But some of my old apps do have it still. The download numbers differ that from Appannie, Distimo and that of Startapp. I mean the appannie and distimo show one numbers and startapp download shows half of it. So i get paid less. This did not happen earlier. -I use airpush for push notification ads. They offer variety of app installs via pushes. -I use both banner and intertestial ads from applovin. Both are easy to set up. -I prefer push notification ads and icon ads with dialogue ads. Instead of app landing page(intertestial) for airpush i use applovins intertestial. This is because it takes less time to download the page than airpush. -All my apps are free apps so i had not tried IAP. This is because i am not able to sell paid apps.

@Sandeep Do you have some PDF manual for installing AppLovin? For some reason I struggle with it. If you are in position to share, we could open another forum discussion in order not to hijack this thread. @elaine Recollecting what I have read from other people's blogs who tried to cross over from Apple Store towards Google Play, you may be in for a nasty surprise. These ports usually go awry because the underlying demographics for the two types of phones and tablets is totally different. In short, the attitude "I've been so successful on iPhones and now Android here I come" does not seem to hold water. Possibly the biggest difference is that Google Play is not the only game in town. You may want to have a look at the codengo site and see there that they distribute Android apps to no less than 19 stores, Google Play being the largest and most important, of course. There they say that 100 million people frequent those 19 app stores and have downloaded more than 1 billion apps through them. The more apps on more independent stores, the better overall you shold be, it seems.

@Dusko- Integrating Applovin is super easy. Both the interstital and the banner ads can be added in bt apps within 2 minutes at max. Yes, i will post a new thread with all required steps to add applovin in android apps. Till date i have mostly used Google Play Store for my android app distribution As of date i do not publish apps for iphone. And in my experience, the name of the app is far more important than anything else. This way the users can reach your app. I have earlier used snapsy, getjar, and inmobi and none of them look promising other than inmobi. Inmobi allows you to publish your app to more than 120 other android app stores with one submission. In last week, i have signed with the opera apps and to my surprise the download rate there is a bit good than others. But still i will prefer google playstore over others. Yes, i have not yet tried samsung appstore.

Yes, I agree applovin is very easy. Interesting info about Opera, I will try to submit soon. I think you'll be surprised with the Samsung Appstore! @sandeep are you able to use Amazon? It could be worth the effort now that more countries are being included The app name indeed is super important on Google Play and the Apple Store as well!

@mysps- I asked Iren ( the one who contacted me to open my dev account on opera) from opera to add my apps directly from Google Store. You can say i am lazy but thats not the case. I have nearly 80 apps live on google play store and i get less time to update, and then make new apps but you too can do the same. Contact the team and they will publish your apps. I have tried Amazon but i disliked it a lot. Yes, this was a year ago and now they have many other countries on their list. But i am not willing to pay $100 per year towards developers fees. I am not sure whether they still charge the developers to maintain account with them but it was the case last year. First year free and subsequent years $100 per year. My next mission will be add all 80 apps to Samsung store with making some changes in them. This will take time but i am sure it will be worth it. @ Dusko- I have posted a new thread with instructions on adding applovin to bt android apps. You can find it here- https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=5B679ABA45024979F35BD59

@elaine >Thanks Dusko. Had a quick look wasn't totally impressed looks like they just want your money. >Have you used them? No, I haven't used them and I don't intend to. I just mentioned them because they list all the 19 appstores in one place.
