Buzztouch suggestion: Change is good.... but

I get and am happy that software for iOS and Android change all the time. And of course, one of the inevitable consequences (and frustrations) of this is that all the custom codes that I've written (aka, shamelessly copied and pasted from the forum) to make my app, my app have to be replaced. Only, I'd rather not spend time re-creating the code I've already written. Wouldn't it be great if there was some sort of way of inputing custom modifications into plugins (or other App code) on Buzztouch so that they are conserved across new versions of App source? I would envision the effect similar to magic of the control panel, control panel customizations appear in newly downloaded source code. Then again, I've just realized that the Control Panel affects the Config file, which... well, my understanding stops there. I suspect David (and others) may be shaking his head in complete disagreement, pointing to existing tools (JSON??) or the technical impossibilities... but just an idea.

I may be misunderstanding you, but I believe this is one of the purposes of self-hosting: to make and use custom plugins (or in this case, to mod an existing plugin, thereby creating a "new" plugin)

Ah, ha! My buzztouch world isn't self-hosted, and... just didn't think of that!

Yep - this is the #1 reason to self-host in my opinion. There's some other great reasons as well of course.

Is there any official Changelog from the BT team? (Like in 1.5?) Jake

@Jake: Changelog, not really. We've slowly begun implementing versions at the top of each iOS Source code file. Have a look at any of the core files and you'll see a version. Plugins, that's another issue altogether. LOL. @Iaxia: I understand exactly what you're talking about. This is a pain point for sure and something we've been talking about. We have a few ideas up our sleeves to address this exact problem (persisting code changes across downloads) and eventually we'll roll out a solution. You won't see this soon but it's on our radar and we've done some tinkering around with some different approaches. Great thinking!!!
