problem setting up self hosting

I set up a host today with hostgator as I saw some people here recommend them. I am following the howto guide by javooooo. I got to the part where you enter the database server details and then the checkmark with the red border around it, that was all fine. When i hit next the guide says follow the prompts and you should receive a green message saying your directory structure is fine. at this point i get this Forbidden You don't have permission to access /BT-server/install/install_2.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I admit i am kind of new to this type of thing and learning as i go but checking the database it set up some table as expected (11 of them). not sure if they all got created as I don't know how many it should create. Anyone have an idea of where I went wrong or what i can do to get it to work

That sounds like permissions on the server side. Do you have an FTP client that can allow you to set permissions? (I use 'filezilla') Alternatively your host may provide a web based 'control panel' that allows you to reset permissions on your site (Mine does, but I'm not with Hostgator). The overall goal would be to reset permissions on the entire directory structure (BT-server and all subdirectories) to 755 and try again. Good Luck! Let us know how it turns out! Cheers! -- Smug

not sure if it was the permissions, i think they are set correctly, but I did get it sorted. the URL that was generated after clicking the next button left off www. at the start of it, I added it in and it moved on to the next step. All sorted now just installing plugins and I think i am all set to go :P
