Google Maps Android API v2

Hello BTers, Any new updates for Buzztouch and using the new Google Maps API v2 keys? I'm looking to use maps for parking locations. Anyone know any good alternatives for the time being?

Expect to see a newly updated plugin in the market in the next few days. The Android project had to change slightly to accommodate the new changes. The readme.txt for the plugin will include these details. Go Google!!!

Are you using Eclipse or Android Studio? I've heard people with Eclipse have it working. I'm using A.S. and yet to find success, but haven't tried too terribly much. Did you get Google Play Services installed properly and the dummy file removed?

I am using Eclipse. I follow this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awX5T-EwLPc . I import google play services library and i put the code in AndroidManifest.xml as the tutorial suggest. I don't know what code i have to remove or edit from the buzztouch application. After i apply these changes the application crash. Any ideas?

Hey Chris, Do you have this actually working in an emulator? My testing, and research, suggests we're out of luck in getting it to work in the emulator. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17204578/google-maps-android-api-v2-not-show-maps-on-emulator Mark

Just finished with the how-to document. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/16qo4fnhsmkmtia/Setting%20Up%20Google%20Maps%20in%20Eclipse.pdf I have not gotten it to work with an emulator yet. Supposedly emulators running 4.2.2 or above come with Google Play Services and thus should work. However, I tried it using an emulator running Google API 18 and it still didn't work. So, looks like we need an actual device to make it work.

I did try that Genymotion program, but I had problems getting it to run properly. Decided it was easier to just hook up my Nexus 7.

Yep, that's been my experience as well. Theoretically, it should work, but apparently it's a hardware limitation that's preventing it from working. I suspect there's a magic formula that'll get it working...I'm doing research. Great tutorial! I think it would be worth mentioning that as of this time, they can't expect maps to work on an emulator. I've spent a ton of time working with people only to come to this realization, and it would save people from posting on a known issue. Mark

Resurrecting this old post. Is the plugin for location map working? I've followed all the tutorials throughout the forums here and I still can't get it quite right. I'm using a google nexus 7/BT self hosted (v3.0) Im just lost at what else I can try to get it working...

It should work fine if you follow my how-to. Just don't expect to see it in the emulator

Thanks Chris. I think I'll start from scratch and give it another go at it.
