Freezing on FTP upload

Hi all. I am trying to upload to Rackspace via Cyberduck and the connection keeps freezing or timing out. The error message says: I/O Error: Cannot create folder api /BT Server ?Server-2.1.8/api Any ideas? I am a novice, so whatever your response please take me in baby steps :) Thanks!

Ok. I guess my first question is, have you ever uploade anything with success, or is this your first time trying? I'm not aware of Cyberduck; I use 'FileZilla', however that really shouldn't matter; they are both built to do the same thing. Probably just look a little different. So first and foremost is authentication. Are you able to successfully connect to your 'RackSpace' account using Cyberduck? Is there any kind of message or status indicator that will let you know? If you have authenticated, do you know if you have the 'ability' (privileges) to upload documents with the account you're using? Have you tried with any other documents? Have you tried in a different directory? Could you specify what you have (and have not) tried, what did (and did not) work and any other information that might assist us in assisting you? Cheers! -- Smug (and if you happen to know Daniel Norris, let him know I said hello)

Hi Smug. Thanks so much for being willing to try to help. Ok, so I'm on a Mac, which no longer supports FileZilla - already tried not an option. The guys at Rackspace suggested Cyberduck because it's supposed to work well with their system. I can connect to my account and have tried uploading to two different containers. Is there a difference between directories and containers in a file upload space? If so, where would I find a different directory? After reading your reply this morning I went back and tried a different folder. It uploaded without problems, however when removing it the read did time out. Yesterday I tried to upload BT Server many times, each time it got to about 97%-99% completion before timing out. When I deleted what I installed it also timed out, but when I hit the Try Again button on delete it worked itself out - not so on the upload.

Hmm... I run 10.8.3, and I use filezilla. But Cyberduck is cool. The best solution is the one that works :) So, if you can't copy 'all' of the directories, have you tried doing incremental uploads? selecting a few directories at a time? I'll take a look at Cyberduck and see what it looks like so I'll have a better idea of what we're talking about... Cheers! -- Smug Edit: or maybe not, lol! If I can get cyberduck to work as a demo. If they want me to cough up $20+ for it, I'd rather talk you through filezilla on the mac.

Thanks, I'll try incremental this eve and post back. FYI - I downloaded Cyberduck for free from the Internet farther than $20 through the App Store. I did try to download FileZilla - kept getting a not supported message. First time I built a site on my Mac, I did use it and it worked, but when I got rid of the site I must have gotten rid of FileZilla and apparently can't go back :) Thanks for your help and I will repost this evening.

Glad it worked out. Just got up on this side of the world. Should you desire filezilla, it's available here: https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client (Choose the Mac version for Intel) Let me know how it goes on your BT Self hosted! Cheers! -- Smug
