Learn Code The Hard Way

Stumbled across this link today: http://sql.learncodethehardway.org/ The book on SQL actually looks pretty good, especially for being in an alpha state. There is TONS you can do with your apps if you learn a little bit of SQL and maybe something like PHP. Imagine all the data you can get users to collect for you and input into a database...for free! That information can be mined, sold, regurgitated, charged for, given away free, added to, or whatever. Lots and lots of stuff you can do...even just collecting (with user permission) stats on the users of your app is a goldmine. Anyway...it looks promising, so I thought I'd share. Mark

Thanks Mark! I scanned through the first third of it this morning. Some good stuff in there. They seem to presuppose some programming knowledge though. Not sure if its the best beginner book, but it is free... :)

Yep, definitely for advanced beginners, or people who like to learn the hard way! ;-) They actually state at the beginning the some basic coding knowledge would be helpful to be successful, but the chapters I read seemed to be basic enough to understand. But that might be because I already know some SQL. Mark

Yep - I learned a few things already, which tells me it moves too quickly for a complete beginner. I like the term 'advanced beginner' though! ;)

@Red Dog...I'm with you on that! I feel like taking a vacation just to catch up on all the stuff I want to learn!
