New How-to on the HTML Pro Plugin

The new HTML Pro Plugin adds a host of new possibilities to your app. It may seem a little complex, but if you use this new How-to by @Chris1, it will be a lot easier. https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Using%20the%20HTML%20Pro%20plugin.pdf Here is a link to the plugin on the market. This plugin works for both iOS and Android. https://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/plugin.php?pid=77049F441E270A6C7AD4433

Hello, I just purchased the HTML pro plugin with the anticipation that I could insert a YouTube URL in the Document Location section and it would display the video within the app without leaving it and going to the native YouTube site. Is this possible to do? It seems to work as far as displaying the YouTube page within the app, however neither the video image or play button load up. Sometimes it also displays the following message: "iOS Error Code: - 1100 iOS Error Message: The requested URL was not found on this server". Is it possible to make this work? I have followed the PDF and video instructions provided, but still can't seem to figure out the missing link. Thank you, Natasha.

Natasha, Thanks for buying my plugin! Unfortunately, it won't play YouTube videos like you want - its designed to show a webpage. If you can get a URL to the video that automatically loads it in YouTube's video player at full screen, it might work. Not sure if they support that not not. But better would be to use one of the video player plugins available. The plugin is intended to allow you to insert a link into an HTML doc you are creating that points to another screen in your app.

Thanks @chris1. After a bit more digging around and testing, I found the Custom URL plugin does what I need. Your plugin will be perfect for my content pages, though. Thanks for building it. :)

Hmm... on a second look-in, the Custom URL plugin seems to only be good for iPhone. Whenever I close off the youtube video and go back to the menu screen, it kills off the video and sound. However, on the iPad, the sound keeps going and when I go back to the video, it won't re-open again properly either. The only way to turn off the sound is to exit the app altogether. Does anyone have a way (or code) to get around this? Otherwise, I'll just use the Launch Native App plugin for my youtube videos. Not ideal because it takes the customer away from the app, but the best solution for now. Thank you.

No, not yet, because I'm currently building for iOS. I've been searching other forum threads too and it looks like others have also crossed the same problem with the video remaining active while navigating back on other screens, but no clear answers yet to solve it.

How about using the AT53 Video Player plugin and using a service like: http://en.savefrom.net/1-how-to-download-youtube-video/ (first one that came up on Google) to get the direct link to a YouTube video?

Excellent... thank you. I'll give it a go and see how it comes up. Thanks for the download link too. It'll save me the effort from getting the files from our videographer.

Hi chris1, I've been trying to implement the HTML Pro plugin, but have come across some issues. I've followed both your YouTube video and pdf document, but when I tap on the new links, I get an error message as follows: iOS Error Code: - 1100 iOS Error Message: The requested URL was not found on the server. To recap what I've done: - Go to HTML Pro screen - create a link to an existing screen - Copy the link code - Go to Custom HTML/Text screen - Highlight text or image, go to hyperlinks, select 'Other' and insert code. - Save Both plugins are already in Xcode. I refresh the app and check the hyperlinks, but keep getting the above error message. I also follow the additional instructions in the PDF but that doesn't fix it. Do you know what I might be missing? Thank you, Natasha.

Sounds like you missed the last piece, which is to link the two plugins together. Get the URL for the custom HTML doc and paste it in the HTML Pro screen.

Yes I had done that section (it was in the PDF doc), but it also came up with the error. I notice that the URL in your PDF is http, whereas mine is https (using Buzztouch hosting). Could that be the difference, or something else?

Sure. How do I do that? Do I just copy and paste the Configuration Data? And where shall I send it? Thank you.

It's 6:50pm here. :) So your problem is a common one. When you created the menu item to load the HTML doc, you pointed it to the Custom HTML screen, not the HTML Pro screen

Hi chris1, Just one more query... I've been setting up my pages with the HTML Pro plugin, but am coming across another problem. Sometimes the links work perfectly for both iPad and iPhone and sometimes they will only work for iPhone but not iPad (for the same links), and vice versa. Thus, when I tap the linked image in iPhone, it'll take me to the plugin. But if I tap it in the iPad, it does nothing. This can sometimes be vice versa, too. Have you come across this issue too, or could I be doing something wrong? Thank you.
