Can only see Android 4.2.2 from BT_Activity_Root property list

I have a mac and setup Eclipse on it. Following the 3 step video from 'How it Works', the guy talking through the tutorial in step 3 seems to have a whole list of options to select from when he selects the properties for BT_Activity_Root and chooses 'Android". He select Google API's from this list but I only have one option (Android 4.2.2). Would anyone know why I only get one option? I checked for updates and the software seems to be up-to-date. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Jasi

Hi @Jasi, run the Android SDK manager (Window > Android SDK manager) to install all the api's. Expect a long wait for them all to install! And notice that you'll need to accept EULA's (tick boxes) for a lot of them.

BT apps for android need Google API's and not Android API's. The eclipse you have installed comes with only the latest Android API. There is no Google API installed. Follow the steps @raveyd has suggested to download all the API's both Android and Google api's from the SDK Manager. You can choose which API Level to download if you want. But remember one thing that BT apps need Google API Level 8 minimum. Though you can choose which api level you want to download, i would suggest you to download all api levels above api level 8 including 8.

Hi @Sandeep, I suggested downloading them all as many jars/libraries, like admob, need higher api's than 8. Probably easier in the long run to just download them all one time. How you doing btw? Haven't seen you around much recently.

Yes, you are correct because if Jasi is serious enough in continuing this field then he should download all the available stuffs from SDK Manager. I have been busy a bit these days with updating my apps. NOw that the scringo has new features and looks in it, i have now been adding it in all of my apps. What about you? Did you release the Indian Recipes app? I would like to check it on the store. You have transformed it amazingly when i checked it last time downloaded from your dropbox. Even i could not recognize that it was made using bt... :)

Same here, updating old 1.4 apps, or rather, completely rebuilding them from scratch! The Indian recipes is finished, the finished version is in my profile. Working on a quiz app now with some cool stuff in it, this developing is a never ending job! Have you heard of pollfish.com? looks like an interesting new ad network, I think I might try it in my next app.

I really enjoy building the app renew... I i bet you too like it... It is totally a different experience to follow the work you have done.... I too have built new apps from scratch and without bt... I left advocacy and am now completely devoted to this job. I will check your app and let you know how i like it... I think i might probably the right contender to assess this app since i am Indian and i am a foodie as well... ;) I have not heard of pollfish but i just checked the website and it looks somewhat promising... I too will definitely give a try and inform you about the earnings with this service...

It's a brave move to give up a good job with prospects, all the very best of luck with it. Yeah, I do enjoy it a lot more than I did a while ago. Now I've accepted that a good app can't be built in a week I don't mind taking my time so much. Don't be too hard on the app! :) I doubt a lot of it is really authentic. I built it with US/UK users in mind, but most of the downloads are from India! Feedback's pretty good though, so I might have got away with it! Admob sucks though :( I thought pollfish looked pretty good, my concern though is that there's a large cost commitment for advertisers which will probably mean a poor fill rate. @Jasi, apologies for hijacking the thread!

Thanks for the quick replies raveyd and sandeep. I'll download the Google API's as you suggested and hopefully all will work. I'm new to this field but am keen to get something built. You'll probably see more of me as time goes on. Jasi

Hi people, first of all sorry to intrude but I would like to reply to raveyd regarding Pollfish. @raveyd thank you for sharing your thoughts about Pollfish. We understand your concerns of the low fill rates. Right now Pollfish is at the very beginning, which translates into and justifies that fact. Although this is going to change soon, having no surveys to display does not affect the applications' user interface. Pollfish works in a different way than any other advertising platform while it creates an overlay on the existing view. When no survey is available Pollfish will not be shown and the user will not have any distracts. In any case, having only one survey per month can bring more revenue than your app could have using the "traditional" ad-click advertising methods. I am sorry for any inconvenience, if you have any questions please email me directly at vasilis [at] pollfish [dot] com Vasileios Mitrousis - Head of Mobile @ www.pollfish.com

Hi @Vasileios, thanks for the insight. I must say I really like how Pollfish works and how unobtrusive it is. (although I had some issues on HTC Wildfire with the top of the overlay cut off) With enough advertisers/surveys on board it's definitely a service I'd use. You should make a post in the 'Introduce yourself' section, I'm sure there are a lot of people who would find your service interesting - as publishers and advertisers - especially if you're willing to help with integration, advice etc.
