Creating A Form

Hi, Im still fairly new to buzz touch, but im slowly getting there thanks to the forums, but i cant find out how do do this. I want to have a form that the user can fill out and then when they are done it is saved and the details are filled into a template. Its for a dive log. Thanks, Jeremy

I just want to add that i also want users to be able to add locations to a map with coordinates. And that if you have one or can make one into a plugin that would be great.

Hi Jlentriken, I'm currently busy with data capturing for my own app, and if all goes well creating a plugin. It probably depends on how much data you want to save, you could either create your own files and just open, append (write) and close them and do some string manipulation to it when you read it. It's probably your easiest way if you ask me. Another method would be storing all the data in Android's SQLite Database. A lot easier to work with the data but a lot of preparation needs to be done to accomplish this. I found a few great sites on both methods, so if you have time, patience and lots of caffeine anything is doable. Best of luck Abrie

Sorry i forgot to mention its for iOS, once i have at least one success ill venture out into android, as far as the data i need goes, there are 9 fields and one of those i want the user to be able to write a little note in. I have patience and time(thanks to caffeine) its just a working knowledge of iOS and how to implement into it that im yet to develop. Thanks for your help, and id be happy to buy your plugin if all goes well Cheers, Jeremy

I just picked up my Mac Mini today, so it might be a few days/weeks before I get iOS under control. But try this link for now. http://mobile.tutsplus.com/tutorials/iphone/iphone-sdk_store-data/ I will work on the plugin for both platforms tho. Cheers, Abrie

Thanks @Jvalley, hopefully @Chris1's plugin comes out soon. Can anyone recommend a good place for me to learn iOS/buzztouch with no experience in anything but VB from years ago?

Consider using Google Forms via their Gdrive. The forms are nicely mobilized. Data is saved into a spreadsheet. Just use an URL plugin and point it to your Google Form. -- Niraj

Niraj- I just got rejected on a app because I used a form like that. I know it's been approved but my reviewer doesn't like it cause it points to another URL

@Niraj, i want to use this to log information, like a logbook and i want users to be able to see a nice looking version of that data on the device, and to keep the entries separate and accessible via a list, can it work like that? Thanks for the help! @Jvalley, ive had a look through the buzztouch u and its been quite helpful thanks.

Jeremy, Look at this for android about forms for android. http://www.vogella.com/articles/AndroidSQLite/article.html http://www.androidhive.info/2011/11/android-sqlite-database-tutorial/ But jvalley is correct. Buzztouch U is great teaching you the beginnings. I tried 2 year of off and on tuturials. And when I watched the videos it was great. otherwise I search stackoverflow for any random coding questions I have. If I get REALLY stuck I ask all my new buddies on BT. They'll happily help. Enjoy the journey. Reckon it's gonna be a wild ride
