hey, was wondering how safe is to have music on na app. Using the Stream Audio, can the user know what URL the mp3 are being streamed from? How easy could it be for someone to download a music from na app using this plugin? Thanks. Miguel

Hi Miguel It isn't easy, because the app doesn't reveal the information in the user interface and there aren't tools available in other apps (that I know of) that would help find a url. So you have some security. But, if they were really determined and they took the code and examined it on a PC, somebody could probably find a way. Alan

If the URL is in the JSON config.txt file, it's pretty easy to find. On iOS, need to be jail broken I believe. Android you just unzip the .apk file on your computer.

On the Internet, everything is digital so it can be stollen, theoretically. Most people will not do that, so we are here really talking about 1, 2, 3 or 4 % of the people that will steal your music. On the bright side, it leaves you with 96% of people that will pay for your music or videos, or video lessons or whatever. Don't let the thought that something might be pirated deter you from publishing it.

Yep - Apple made a killing on mp3's via iTunes for that reason. They made it super easy to pirate music, but even easier to buy it.

There are much much more than 1, 2, 3 or 4 % of users actually stealing music but I agree with the idea that it should not deter you... Anyway, there is strictly no way to protect music. No way! Even with the most sophisticated protection there's a workaround: plug a minijack and a recorder (hardware or software). There will be a slight quality loss, but you steal it quite easily... Nowadays, musicians make money in the concerts, not really in the virtual or real-life music shops anymore... And the guy who steals your music, and who discovers you this way, maybe will buy a concert ticket (and take some friends with him), then a t-shirt (or two), then even the CD to get a better sound quality (or to offer it as a Christmas or birthday gift)... That's modern life.

DRM is probably what you want to find out about Miguel.

I know but the songs will be streaming, thats how the plugin works, it only streams. Does DRM also usable in streaming?

I have never used DRM myself, so I don't know a lot about it, but I believe it can work on streams - the idea is if you don't have the right to play the file, then even if you obtain it, it doesn't work. But, I think if I was in your shoes, I would just go with simple streaming. At the end of the day, hackers will always be there, but to echo @fusionsch thinking, if a couple of percent of people find out how to obtain the music without paying, how big a problem is that compared to the problem of trying to build in heavyweight security?.

Hi, I just wanted to add: like everything, If you know what your are doing it's easy! Your question about the mp3 - hard to get/steal: it's very easy. I'm not going to tell how you can do that (for security reasons) but once you get your app on the store I can get your files very easy (without jailbreaking or a jailbroken phone). Just to let you know! But I should not be too worried about this. The main audience doesn't know how to get it and is not interested in ways how to get it. Best Regards, Danny
