Nothing happens when I click Run

I remember using Eclipse ages and ages ago and found it traumatic! Same tis time round too! I made a dead simple app... like the MonteryHabour one in the videos. Downloaded the ADT/SDK/Eclipse bundle from google... and opened it up. Installed the API 8 SDK. Opened Android Virtual Device Manager and created a new device that uses Google API 8. Clicked "Start". (A box appears saying starting up the emulator. After 5-10s it goes away) File:Import:Existing Android Code into Workspace. Select the directory to my buzztouch source code. I right click that workspace and go to properties:Android:Project Build Target and select Google API 8. Then I click Run... and I get this in the console... [2013-05-01 08:56:20 - BT_activity_root] ------------------------------ [2013-05-01 08:56:20 - BT_activity_root] Android Launch! [2013-05-01 08:56:20 - BT_activity_root] adb is running normally. I spent 4hrs clicking last night and half an hour this morning! And I feel ANGRY!!! Thank you!

Feeling Anrgy, yikes. I get angry at Eclipse and the crazy emulators all the time. The console looks normal, like it's installed on the emulator OK. You say it "goes away" - what goes away? What are you seeing in the emulator? You could also try using a regular device if you have one. Plugin it in with the USB cable, select it in the Run options in Eclipse. Not sure how else to advise...sounds like an emulator issue.

Hi David, Thank you for your reply. I am still plugging away at it! :) Here is a screenshot of the box that appears and then goes away a short while later... https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8EAC02052CCD680C!320&authkey=!AMOFUER7RSnZ_QI I have read that launching Eclipse from "program files" can cause problems because of the space in the directory name; I now launch it from D: I have also read that there can be opengl issues. I dont really know how to tackle this. I have noticed my gs2 does show up in eclipse. I have unplugged it so that I dont confuse matters. Ill give it go!

Ok, cool. That dialogue in the image is exactly what you should be seeing. On my machine, and on all the others I've seen, this dialogue opens, shows some progress BS then goes away when the emulator begins. I've not heard anything about it going away without an emulator running. Sounds like you've found some forum posts or info about this type of issue. Have ZERO idea where to advise other than the use an actual device idea. I realize this may be tough but tons and tons of us Android folks have given up on the emulators and just plug devices in. It's soooo much faster. It costs a bit to collect gadgets but does work well. I use emulators when I want to test across lots of different gadgets but they take forever - even when they do work! LOL. This may or may not help too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORS-SdLhso0

Ok, thank you. I do have a weak computer... an old netbook. Though I have had the emulators working on it, albeit a long time ago. Long enough to forget all about APIs, SDKs, ADTs etc etc! I am unzipping eclipse for a second, fresh start. But ill rapidly move to the idea of using a real device! Thank you for your response... ive learned a lot from you over the last 12hrs! :-)

Last 12 hours, too funny. It's 4:00 AM West Coast US. Done! good luck with the netbook thing-a-ma-jig, it'll work out eventually. Until next time.... out.
