Amateur Issues

Hi everyone, as I'm still in the early stages of app developing, I have a lot of ideas but struggling to get them into practice (It'll come.) Anyway, I have a idea in mind for a game which I'm sure will take me the best part of years to get anywhere near how I imagine, but you gotta start somewhere! The carrer course I'm doing is showing me basics in app developing, add screens, images, menu's etc and this is all great for apps of a certain type, (but not games.) Without trying to sound like a idiot, (and please excuse my lack of technical terminology,) if you imagine a game such as angry birds/temple run, and how these games are played via one screen, with various actions/reactions result into a conclusion eg. level complete. I'd imagine such properties/components are doable, but with a very strong knowledge of xcode/programming? Could such examples be done via buzztouch? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I really dont know where to start. If it is a case of fathoming xcode to the nth degree I'm more than willing to give it a go, I'm not under the impression this is something that can be done quick or easy so any help I'd love. Thanks guys have a good day!

Anything can be done with buzztouch and a plugin I'm working on a few simple games for others so it can be done. You will be very surprised how much code goes into a game such as angry birds or temple run, it may rely on one screen but there are tonnes of different classes related to it. If you want an angry birds clone check out code canyon there is a few gamer starter kits like angry birds, shooter ups space invader clones. They use cocoa touch which is a sort of games engine they come with tutorials and are a lot if fun. Also checkout ray weinderleich tutorials he also sells his own cookie cutter games tutorials. A great plugin developer theMonster is developing a game platform called jango but its in its infancy. Another option is game salad which is a drag and drop wysiwyg service. Hope that helps

Thank you Kittsy, I can imagine it being complex but its really something I want to try. Is everything you mentioned web based like buzztouch or are they programmes that need to be downloaded? I'm useless with code so if any of these help with that thats probably the road I want to be going down. Thanks again.

The code canyon stuff is a template you change the graphics and images, sounds etc it comes as a full package with comprehensive guides and tutorials. Will use Xcode The ray weindeleich tutorials go through everything step by step will use Xcode Game salad is there software free download then its like a publisher The monster version jango you will need to download something Remember games are very individual so a plugin for an angry birds clone isn't likely, If it is angry birds clone you want I think the code canyon is $50 it has reviews give it a look

I think you will have to define a lot of things before you start making the next angry birds. If you do not want to code and only be a manager of app development, that is one position. If you want to be not only a programmer but a developer as well, that it is another position. (A programmer here means "coder", developer here means someone who executes all phases of product development through software). The notion of catapulting yourself from not knowing anything, which seems to be your current position, to the next Rovio, is absurd. Rovio themselves had to undergo no less that 51 failed app project until they got it made with Angry Birds. They had to pay for those failures too, both in money and in resources. Your best bet would be to start making apps which are remotely similar to the final goal that you have in mind and then kind of bootstrap yourself into the final product. With BuzzTouch you get many tools to create the mundane parts that each app must have -- menus, images, buttons etc. Whatever app you have in mind, BT will be useful to you. Using the Plugin Creator tool you get a skeleton of a screen, which is better than nothing and is a place to start original apps. What will happen in that screen is up to you. You can use premade stuff from the various sources Kittsy told you about, or you can make something of your own, or both, in time. But, learn to walk before you start running.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help. I dont expect anything to happen over night and I agree Dusko, learn to walk first. The app i had in mind isnt anything like angry birds I just used it as an example but still, It's something that will take a long time to get anywhere near I want it to be, but I dont plan on going anywhere. I'll probably spend some time familiarising myself with buzztouch for a while, trial and error, and try and move forward from there. Does anyone know a direct link for xcode tutorials that you think I may find useful? Or you found useful yourself? I get the impression if I want to get more in depth with these projects xcode is something that really needs to be cracked.

Too much alright, thinking of building a game app later, later bases on where I live. It was gonna be based like sim city but here you might be able too go live. Like really order food, book app, etc. I thought it was impossible, now I know the value of plugins, Thanks :)
