iTunes connect for client

Hello all I want t know what every does when building app for client. Do you open a developers account through apple for the client? So they can input metadata and account information for profits. Or is there away to decide what bank account to put profits from certain apps? Just interested in what others are doing.

I'd say best practice is to go down that route, yes. It also adds a wee line item for you, account setup, 12 month update as well when certs need redone. What happens if you get hit by a bus, their app is frozen in your account. I'd say open their own iTunes and App Annie account.

Happy days. Nothing wrong with publishing under your account but in terms of branding for the client it also makes sense.

Had many decisions to make in regards to this. I think getting the client to do all is better around, unless you want to tie them in to a long term deal. Less headache if they feel they are in control. I'm just rambling! Lol!

Agree with @MacApple - I publish under my own name for my clients and charge them a monthly fee. That fee lets them update their apps, but it also ensures they stay a customer. And, it gives me credibility by showing published apps under my handle. But: I haven't had a client request to publish under their own name yet. If they do, I suppose I would let them do that. But I would probably charge them to get them set up and published if they couldn't do it themselves.

They've all been free apps. If it was paid I would probably do it under their name.

Branding-wise, the Client's name should be used for publishing. Then the Client retains the copyright to the app and it's content. Developer marketing-wise, your Company's name should be used for publishing. You own the copyright to the app and it's content. When the App is published, you could change the copyright field to be that of the Client's. Either way, you'd be charging the Client for your services: - Initial development - Publishing - Updates to stay current with new releases of the Mobile OS - Developer Account renewals with Apple - Content updates (unless you gave the Client wicked documentation for self-service! :-) Flip that coin! :-) -- Niraj
