Background image not refreshing and displaying another one

A very strange issue... While working on an app using the Menu with Image plugin, I found a bad bug: sometimes, when reloading a menu (with its background image) with a tab after loading some other screen (which has a different background image), the app 'forgets' the existence of the menu background image and keeps the background image of the screen you just loaded before... Quite annoying... Please read this detailed post about this issue: https://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/discussion.php?tid=E600B1569B91FC2BCC9DDBB&pid=F018606BDA6027B90A3ED49&searchInput=search...&sortColumn=PT.modifiedUTC&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=1 And if you know anything about a solution, please share it! Many thanks in advance! Jack

Hi Jack, Not sure to be quite frank. Have you copied and pasted the configuration data, sometimes it fixes little issues like that. Farcat

Hi Farcat, Sure I did! I can't use the online config, as the upgraded app is quite different from the one that is live on the App Store. So I copy the online config, paste it in Xcode, edit it to link the tabs with the new menus, delete the app from my iPad, clean it in Xcode (and sometimes even quit Xcode and restart my computer)... and rebuild it completely! I always make an intensive use of background images (some 40 different backgrounds in this app) and I've never seen such an issue! Cheers Jack

Hi Jack, fwiw there's a similar problem with Android, when on re-opening an app the opening screen sometimes doesn't display the background image when using a tabbed layout. I can't nail it down, but it 'might' be a tab issue rather than menu+image issue??

Hi Raveyd, Yes, it may be... But I'm not enough into hard coding to find what's happening! All I see in the output console is this: 2013-04-22 15:58:45.778 montreux[180:707] BT_fileManager: File does exist in Xcode bundle: background-highlights-ipad.jpg ... and the background is nicely displayed... And then, suddenly: 2013-04-22 15:59:26.164 montreux[180:707] BT_fileManager: File does not exist in Xcode bundle: background-highlights-ipad.png ... and the screen keeps displaying the former background image... Quite ugly, of course, as not fit to be displayed there.... Yikes!

I'm having the very exact same issue. Did you find a solution to the problem?

No solution yet! Susan told me we have to keep on using the forum to talk about this issue, hoping more people will share their experience about it... Maybe we are relatively few to use background images extensively? Anyway, BT never stumbled upon this issue! Meanwhile, I use a workaround, not 100% satisfactory but efficient: in the menus I use the same background image, in the submenus another one but compatible with the first one (i.e. not messing up the layout if it appears under the main menus), and on every other type of screen I paste a little snippet of code to hide the tab bar when loaded...
