Hi folks. @kalkskalle - Welcome to BT, glad you found the place and you will be as well soon. As @Sheri says have a wee peek at the documents above but something about your question made me think you have yet to install Xcode, am I right? @Sheri - Having a ball down here, good turn out, new and old faces.

Hi again, NP. You'll need a Mac to run Xcode it isn't available on Windows. Once you have the Mac running Xcode is right there in the store, free to devs. Are you looking to do iOS and Android? You can get started with Android right away. Cheers.

If you're looking for Android development, you don't need to migrate over to Macs. If you're looking into developing apps seriously, then I would seriously recommend one, because it supports both development platforms, but also they are just nicer computers to have for day-t-day life. Once Xcode is running (the development program for iOS), you can test any Apple device, as long as it is compatible with running the latest iOS. For instance, and iPad 2 would be fine, but an iPad 1 wouldn't be fine. But generally, I find you mainly test on the iOS Simulator (with the Xcode package) until I'm nearly ready to submit, where I test on my real device next. It is crucial that you test on a real device! It shows what your app will do for real, instead of the simulator. If you don't have a device you need to test your app on, dont worry, because many of us here on the Buzztouch forums will happily help out! Good luck with you project! You found the right place. If there's any help you need, always pop a question in the forums.

well, you are all too kind to an old fart and a newbee like myself! yes, i will develop an app for both platforms and the sdk and java installs for Android seems pretty much straight forward to me. And right now I'm in the app developing learning phase of buzztouch and the ADT/SDK for android. With the apple xCode and sdk I do feel a bit lost: Is it really possible to test your app on a physical apple device?? How do you install it... I mean, before it eventually is accepted to the AppStore?? I decided to buy myself a used ProBook w lates OSX installed... (but...do I ever have to use the iTunes library to develop my app??? AppStore and the yearly $99 fee is ok, but Over the years ITunes has become a vicious enemy and a hate object to me...so please, tell me this path is cleared and iTunes-free) ;>) ------- Ooops...just found out there must be mismatch betw the installed JRE and the Android ADT/SDK I installed last night ------- See Ya' in a bit. /Thomas

Hi again and again... Do I dare one more question? After downloading the Android source from BT website to my PC, when trying to open the eclipse.exe, I get an error message from Eclipse saying the JRE (JDK) directory and the javaw.exe and JVM is missing on my Eclipse SDK setup. (My Java is installed under Program Files/java/JRE7/ and ../JRE6/) How do I resolve this??? Best regards /Thomas
