Server Buzztouch Password

I had forgotten my password on the BT-Server on my personal server. Clicked to have it send me an email on a password reset but the email that came is blank. Now the password is set to something I can never figure out. Is there a way to get back in the software on my server? If so, how?

Hi cherie Do you now how to use php admin? If you can. You can go into your database and add a new password in the confiq.

You'll need to use PHPMyAdmin. You'll need to be able to edit your BuzzTouch Database. When you do, the table you'll want to look for is the 'BT_users'. It may be named something else depending on your install config, but it 'will' end in '_users'. In that table, look for your record. The type will most likely be 'admin', if you're the only one. Select that 'row' and delete the data in the 'loginPassword' field ONLY. It's encrypted and you won't be able to see what it was anyway. That should set you to a blank password. You may want to backup your database before doing anything; just to be safe. Cheers! -- Smug

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm wth. Go private and let you try on my server? Bad thing is, I am good with SQL so sure I did the change correctly. Just haven't learned PHP yet.

hmm... if blanks aren't working, you may want to check out your config file and fix it so that email reset 'can' work. There is a little bit about it in this thread, that may provide a little guidance... http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=C2966F2CADF54B6CAE0A5F5&currentPage=174 but that is something you can do without having to be 'in' the system. Cheers! -- Smug

No, logins worked for almost a year. I am in the config file but don't see anything to change having to do with password reset. Dang I hate not knowing how to fix this. Read all the code in the config file, it makes sense to me. Just don't see anything that would help me in this situation.

The new user should work if the blank doesn't work.

There is no setting in the config file for a password reset. There is a setting for email though. If your email isn't configured, you can't get a password reset 'sent' to you, which was your initial problem. So, try getting email to work, if the other solutions aren't working. Cheers! -- Smug

My email was set. I got the email but the email was blank. No wording on it and I checked to see if it was white type, but it wasn't.

Perhaps a different destination email address? It's a shot in the dark, but... Cheers! -- Smug

Worth a shot, will let you know. Although I got the email but there is just blank space in the email. Hmmmmm wonder where that email comes from? I could code in the new password to myself in the letter. Think that is what I really need. The reset password email location.
