Wanting To Start Plugin Development

Hello, My name is Daniel, and I have been with Buzztouch for almost 3 years. I recently have been learning objective c. I understand the syntax and am familiar with OOP and other concepts such as Polymorphism. I am looking into developing Buzztouch plugins for the community and for myself. Would anyone know where I could access information for that. I have looked into the how to page and only found a little bit about the file tree and things like that. Is there a reference of an API for Buzztouch, or some kind of programming help for developing a bt plugin? And no I do not want to use a plugin creator, because its limiting. Thanks,

Davids video on how to create a plugin really shed the light for me. It's on YouTube somewhere... hunt it down using 'BuzzTouch' as a keyword. Cheers! -- Smug

I saw it, I already understood most of it, but it was good. I'm looking for functionality to use, for example access to creating a table or menu. Something like that.

@Auggnet that's going to come with experience and research. After you know how to get started, you really need to just get your hands dirty and spend nights trying to figure out how to do stuff.

yep - there's a lot of little details that go along with plugin development. If you already understand objective-c, your best bet is to analyze an existing plugin to see what it's doing and go from there.

Chris1 voiced my suggestion. When I was looking into creating plugins, I just took a simple one like Splashscreen, flashlight etc, that I had downloaded the source code for my package. Then I can browse the code to see how the JSON is parsed and utilised. I never got as far as looking at setting up the console, but I suspect that is actually the easier part (I hope I'll be corrected if I'm wrong) I look forward to seeing what you can come up with. The more plugins the merrier.

Pick a specific capability that you want to have in a plugin. Either develop it from scratch or find it on GitHub. Then integrate into BuzzTouch. Evolve it from the GitHub version. Tell us what you want to do specifically, then we can help you get started. Yay -- we have another plugin developer who wants to join the clan! :-) -- Niraj
