Remote desktop

I'd like to know the best way I can connect remotely to my iMac from my Macbook Pro while we are in St. Louis since my iMac has all my development software and applications on it. I'm not real clear as to whether the built-in screen sharing will work once I leave my home network. If possible I'd like to use native OSX software. Both machines have OSX 10.7.5. Thanks, Tim

Screen sharing should work, but u may need to do port forwarding on your router
