Updating iOS app

I'm want to be clear on updating apps. On one of my apps I want to update with a splash screen. In the current version the splash plug in is not in the plug in folder. The app is also on the live mode. Question is when I update and submit to App Store for another version do I hit the cp update also. What happens to the app when the user doesn't have the update .. Does it crash since the cp is pushing out a plugin the user doesn't have yet? Hope it's understood Jim

Hi, when you update via Apple, all that don't update will see a blank screen or have the app crash. You should only publish the changes after app approves the update. And just inform users that they need to update to continue using the screen. Or you could host the new config file in another place, that way you dont update the control panel. But its not a good idea. Maybe you should only update when you have more new features. It wouldn't be good to get some angry user with a crashing up just beacause of a splash screen.... Cheers Miguel

ok... how about if i worked on the app in xcode and switch the config in xcode to design. Would this make the changes just in xcode on the what im working on. I wont hit publish and so it wont change the live product. I want to be able work on it without changes. I can then then push the update out without changing the people who have the old version.. So now i would never hit publish and just do apple updates.. Possible?

If your app is live and you don't hit the publish, all changes made on the CP won't affect the app thats live. Changes on Xcode never effect the live apps, just changes on the control panel. Miguel

Just make sure that the config file that you sent in the app that's live, is in fact set to live.
