Hi Georgios. Does the feed have an image XML tag in it?

some of them are under "media:content" tag, others at "img src", others at "img" and some at "enclosure"

@red dog... Could you provide the answer to this forum post rather than PMs, I'd like to know as well before I buy the plugin.

Hi Waystid. As-is it does not. There is just one line of code to change to allow image tags to show. Georgeios has given me a bunch if feeds to test. I will let everyone know the results as soon as I can. Thanks

Hi Georgios. links #3, 6, 9, 10, and 11 work with the "media:thumbnail" xml tag. So they are good. The others are written entirely in html. There is no xml tag for images so they will not show the images. They will only show the title and description.

Hi "ALL" To allow RD simple RSS to show image thumbnails in the feed list, open the index.php file and scroll down to line 462. Uncomment the following code by removing the <!-- and the --> <!-- <div style='padding-top:5px;'> <b>Image XML Element</b><br/> <input type="text" name="json_xmlItemImageName" id="json_xmlItemImageName" value="<?php echo fnFormOutput(Image);?>"> </div> --> Remember, only valid xml tags for images will show. No html tags like "ing src" will work. I will fix this in the next update of the plugin. Thank you.

@Red Dog - thanks for the info. Could you please clarify where the index.php file is located? I have RSS Reader working great but cannot find this file to test thumbnails. thanks

You must be self hosted to change the file. If you are on Buzztouch control panel, you will have to wait until the next plugin update. Hopefully not too far away.

@Red Dog - sorry couple more questions. Is there a way to customize Font (color, size) and also the number of feeds that are shown? (limited to 10 in display now I'm showing) thanks

HI FromtheNE. I will be happy to include the ability to change font size and color in the next update. I just wanted to get the basic feed reader out quick. A bunch of folks were needing it. Right now, you can only adjust the background color or add an image to the background. I have 15 separate RSS feeds in my Home screen (which is a simple menu list). Some of my individual feeds have 10 "stories", and some have over 20. The number of stories is determined by the feed source.

Hi Everyone. The update is finally out! NEW IN VERSION 1.1 You can now add a header image to your RSS feed screens. The header image will adjust to the screen size of the device. The header image can be "tapped" to load another screen. Adjustments can be made to the list layout and color. The row height and font size can be changed. If your feed includes images you can adjust their size, corner radius, and add a shiny effect. The list of stories in your RSS feed will now automatically update when the feed is selected. Thank you for your support.
