setting up test server for dreamweaver

I am starting to learn how to use dreamweaver, and am wondering if anyone has set up a test server XAMP MAMP for for their CP on your own computer. I have my BT site set up on liquidweb but would like to set up the test server locally for testing in live mode in dreamweaver. Any tips, tricks, or helpful hints?

Setup lamp on home machine, pretty straight forward, just pay attention to path and youll be fine.

Dreamweaver has Sites. Configure a Dreamweaver Site for your local BT Server. Then configure another Dreamweaver Site for your LiquidWeb server. -- Niraj

Sites is definitely a nice feature. Part of what I am wondering is if there is a problem having a second self hosted server setup locally.

I don't know if there are any consequences to having two Self-Hosted BT installations that use the same BT Key. Give it a try and let us know? -- Niraj

Not too bad so far. Got xampp set up, buzztouch installed, plugins downloaded, new app created in the Cp. I set up the test site in dreamweaver's site manager and it connects, but with one problem. It won't let me log into the buzztouch cp when i go to live mode in DW. Any ideas?

Interesting ,I guess I need to hold the command key down when hitting the submit button on the log in page when using dreamweavers live mode. Got it working now. Now its on to finishing these Dreamweaver tutorials.

Do you need 2 API keys for this? Jake

Nope. The one thing I didn't test was running the packager, but that wasn't the point of setting this up.
