Localization for English and Japanese, multiple pdf and image file sources in xcode not downloaded.

Hi, I have just completed an English app for my company, and have just been asked to support Japanese within the app also. This app contains about 60 PDF files in English. I have had the PDFs translated into Japanese with the exact same file names. What I have tried is to localize all the English files into English and Japanese (English.lproj & ja.lproj) within x code and then replacing the source files within the ja.lproj folder with the Japanese versions. I have also localized the strings file to reflect the Japanese text (Which works fine in simulator btw). The issue is that now my project runs successfully in the simulator without errors but all of the localized pdf files are getting the "Data for this screen has not downloaded" error! Is there any simple way to fix this? Or have I taken the wrong approach? Mick

Did you 'add' the files, or did you copy them into the directory? 'Data for this screen has not downloaded' is a nice way of saying 'I cant find the file'. Check your references to the files in your CP, and make sure you 'added' the files into the project, not copied. https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Adding_Files_To_A_Project_v1.0.pdf ごんばて! Hi Smug, Yeah I did add them to the project, my process was as follows; Dragged files into BT_Docs folder in Xcode. Clean, Run in Simulator. Great docs show as expected. App is perfectly working! Everybody happy with the layout! Boss wants to add Japanese support... Then... In Xcode localize each pdf file into English & Japanese individually. Clean, Run in Simulator. S#%*T! docs cant be found anymore. Its like now that they have been put into localized folders within the project that they are no longer available to the simulator if you get me? I know I am probably missing something stupid but cant seem to find it? Cheers Mick

oh. If they're not in the BT_Docs folder, but a subdirectory of that folder, then it may need a path adjustment. I'm not 100% sure, but it's worth looking into. Cheers! -- Smug

I have successfully localized my app's full content. A tutorial to match: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=C40104A1BA3D3E8BF268258

Hi everyone, Wow what a great forum, @mysps, That is the best most comprehensive tutorial you could have made on this topic! Thank you for your excellent input. I will be building my Japanese app today in BT and coding the 2 config files in the English version. I will update here with my successes. @aussiedra, I tested on my iPhone 4s and iPad 3 with the same results, no pdf/image files available.
