I haven't tried it, but I read that Go Daddy does not open the necessary ports for Push notification. Just so you know. Besides that, what trouble are you having setting up? Cheers. Miguel

Sadly I'm with Go *spit* Daddy. Wish I wasn't. Signed up for second year right before push went live on BT. Haven't tried the push yet but others have to me they refuse to open required ports. IF it is an issue, maybe all the users could group together and say we will close our accounts if they dot play ball.

Moved to Host Gator from GoDaddy after the issues started piling up. HostGator made transition really easy, saving money too. I have no stake in HostGator, kinda wish I did though. Tim

I have set up with GoDaddy with no problem except for the port, which is a PAIN!! We should all contact them to get it to work! It's such a shame. Farcat

Ordinarily large hosts will not just open ports, they have reasons and network admins get funny about perceived threats. Might make sense to start a thread for Go*spit*Daddy and see if we can't get some action as a group. I may well go to one of their DCs, strip naked, tie myself to their railings until we get it resolved. In fact, maybe just send an email.

Good idea, let's all email a picture of you stripped named, tied to their railing. :) Joke aside, what kind of collective effort would make a difference? Maybe a facebook or twitter storm?

Not sure. Essentially they don't care about churn for low level client like us. Tough. If we did find a dozen or so of us to all email as a group.

I've done a few now. There is one trick - the database name will look a little different than a standard BT install- http://www.razorsql.com/articles/mysql_godaddy.html "GoDaddy servers typically have the [servername].secureserver.net name or the [servername].hostedresource.com or something similar. You can find the MySQL server name by going to the databases section of the Hosting Control Center, and then clicking the edit button next to the MySQL database. This will display the host name, database name, database version, etc." This document also helped me: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/4978/connecting-remotely-to-shared-hosting-databases No clue about the PN ports, I'm not using the BT PN service.

I'm on godaddy - and will be switching when my contract is up or when I can't wait for push any longer.

OK. So we have three on this thread. Stopping me using BT Push right now, not that I've tried. Don't like the company to be honest but switched stuff from EasyCGI to them. I may try contacting their support.... will update this thread if I do.

@MacApple: You should ask them if you cancel your account, will they pro-rate the charge? Jake
