New Blood - quick help required

Hi everyone. Just arrived here and looking for some quick help. I am trying to build my first test app in the app builder but I can't download the source code for xcode. Any idea when this issue will be fixed. Thanks for your help in advance. Baldo

Hey Nick, thanks for your quick reply. I started to build the test quiz app as far as possible but I can not get it to download the source code. I tried this on my mac after I installed xcode. The screen I get is "Packing Project Source Code" I have both a PC and a MAC. I can download the code for Eclipse but not for xcode. Mike at support said that this is an issue at their end.

Oh right, I take it your on safari, try either updating it or using another browser just to check. If you are wanting to press on and your not too worried about losing your work you could just try and make a new account and see if you can download the source code then.

I tried it in Firefox on my PC at first and that did not work. Not really surprised as xcode is only for the Mac... I then tried it on my Macbook Pro, after I ran a system update and downloaded 1.6Gb Xcode. I believe the problem is not at my end but at the App builder end. No point in creating another account.

Try a new app.. Build a menu and a page and see if that works

Making a new account will most probably fix it, that way you'll be setting up new connections with BT-server, but it shouldn't be the answer. Im sure Mike will be on it ASAP for you. -Nick

Hey, you created your app in the control panel, and then you select download source code. You then select prepare package for download right? What happens then? Where exacly do you stop being able to continuing?

I did all that MadRod, I get stuck at "Packing Project Source Code" I get no further. Nick, I don't think setting up a new account will fix it because other users are also having this issue.

Nick, how do I set up a new account? All I get is the login screen. I can not set up an account.

So you click on prepare package and it starts packing and it doesn't end? hummm. if you tried with other browsers and get same error, I've tried my account and I'm able to prepare package, so it does seem to be something wrong with your account. Maybe contact BT support. Miguel

There's absolutely no reason to create a new account (unless you want to become a member twice, which would be cool!). You'll only end up with the same problem twice. I just packaged my iOS source code for my app, and had no problems. So, it appears to be working. Did you try a new browser? Who is "Mike from support?" I don't recognize that name. Mark

I spoke with this user, he is not using BT, he uses theappcode.com that seems to have the same control panel as BT. Miguel

I'm having the same issue on my self-hosted control panel. I can package an Android file, but not iOS. This has been posted in a new thread today by someone else as well.

Yes, TheAppCode uses a self-hosted BT cpanel. All the users on that platform are experiencing this problem. There was a forum post on this exact issue about 6 months ago: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=EBD79CAED3534A31895314D&command=isSearching&currentPage=1&topicTitle=Packaging%20Project%20Source%20Code&createdBy=&repliedBy=&minViews=-1&maxViews=-1&minReplies=-1&maxReplies=-1&forumCategory= I didn't see any resolution, but that lends me to believe that some other users besides theappcode have had this problem in the past. It's strange because this functionality was working perfectly well a few days ago and all of a sudden has stopped. @chris1, are you on theappcode or are you experiencing this issue on your own self-hosted server? I have another self-hosted BT server and am not getting this issue. Is there some sort of threshold that prevents further packages from being created? Is the threshold different for Android and iOS?

@madrod. Its just a self hosted Buzztouch CP with the logo swapped out for branding. I have seen quite a few people do it here. http://whitebuffalomobile.com/ http://whitebuffalomobile.com/BT-server/index.php

I was able to package one of my apps just fine on my self hosted CP. It did seem to take a little longer than usual, but still no more than 60 seconds.

Keep in mind that theappcode.com would have to have API calls available for packaging up the code. This is something that theappcode support people should be working out, since they're responsible for making sure their customers can download code.

GoNorthWest is refering to the 100 api calls per month limit. Would the CP show any announcments if this is the case.

Thanks for all the comments people. I appreciate your input. I am a little concerned that the problem has been here for a while, 6 months ago it seems. What would the wise people here suggest that I do to move this forward?

I suggest you become a BT member directly... Otherwise only appcode support can help you. If you don't have a BT member account I don't think its possible to see whats the problem with your API, because you don't have one with BT. Cheers.

I'm thinking its a issue with you self hosted server not bt.. I would start with your self hosted provider and decide from there..I'm agreeing it may be his API calling problem I would echo Madrod.. Become a bt member and start with the bt control panel..

Thanks MadRod and jvalley for your quick response. At the moment I am not sure that there would be any significant value in me becoming a bt member. I am not really a coder, I am more on the business side of things and wanted to try my had at building some apps. it seems that it is a lot more time consuming than i first thought. Let me have a think about what to do next.

It does take time.. Start simple and work your way.. Become a member and starting off using the bt cp has many beginner benefits.. Time though is a issue for everyone..best of luck
