I have alot of apps that are waiting on a RSS Plugin, is there anyone who is working on one currently or has one waiting to be sold in the plugin market? If not i will pay some one $$ for a IOS RSS Reader Plugin! Thanks, Jack

Hi Jack. There is a handful of plugins going through the market review process now and rumor has it one is a RSS reader for iOS ;-)

As an interim, I have been using https://www.rssinclude.com/ to generate a screen for my apps. I have found that it works pretty well and has the advantage of working on Android and IOS apps.

I too have used rssinclude but it looks like apple doesn't like it much. They don't like to have a screen which is merely a browser window with non native functionality in your app. What are the features you'd like to have in your rss screen? give me a note let's see what we can do.

@webneeves- I want the something simple like the MWFeedparser or a 320 project with the image element added to the table display. I've hacked at them both and gotten it to display - but turning that into a BT JSON enabled plugin is too complex and would be a disaster to support..... Anything that includes an image element in the table display and loads a detail page on the row tap is what I'm after.... Red Dog, you've got image elements in the table display? I'd love to know what you worked from to build this if you feel like sharing (PM?) I'm not building anything for public consumption, just trying to get my own version finished....

@MrDavid- I've used it a few times, love it, great piece of code but it has always had issues with the tableview. Specifically you tap a few items and it takes you to the link. But when you return to the tableview screen, it has had issues redrawing the screen properly. I get some random blank cells. More cosmetic than functional, seesm to happen after only after you cycle thru a few taps - but enough that it still generated some 'that screen is broken' from my clients. I took a few cracks and fixing it up, but the BT 1.5 includes threw me for a loop. Since BT doesn't use them anymore I forged on with MWFeedparser.... I'm gonna reload it and see if that still persists. Maybe some BT or Xcode updates have helped that issue or will lead to a fix..... Thanks for updating it!

Hi @MrDavid, have you considered submitting that plugin to the standard buztouch plugins market? The reason I ask is that if you did, there would be more support when the buzztouch core changes, you may find David or other community guru's could help iron out any bugs. I think the functionality it is already pretty good and it shouldn't be affected by future changes. Alan

@ATRAIN53 The first release of the plugin will not show image elements "out of the box." However, I have been able to show the image elements from a couple of sites like: http://rss.music.yahoo.com/charts/rssTopVideos.xml If you want to send me a couple feeds you are interested in I would be happy to test them as well.

Yep, exactly what I want. Mine looks identical except for the image element. Reliably extracting it from any RSS feed is tough. I can make it appear if I edit the sourcecode for some feeds - but making it that a universal plug-in that works with the CP and uses the image element is a challenge. Anxious to see how you pulled it off. I built mine off the MWfeedparser source here: https://github.com/mwaterfall/MWFeedParser Curious what guides/tutorials you might have used. 100's of them out there I looked at, but not many that dealt with the image element. MW lacks it but I see some creative newer pulls there I may have to try. Has been a few months since I played with it. Too busy studying Android. I've got a version on that platform almost done now, just need to get this Lazy Image loader class working and that will hopefully display the image element there and push a webview when you click the item. Complex but fun to code :) Your plug-in should sell like hotcakes, much needed functionality!

Mine does not "automagically" find and display the thumbnails. But, I can add an input screen in the index.php that let's you enter the XML tag that will display the images. Just like the BT rss screen v 1.5 So, you still have to look at the rss page source to find the tag yourself.

@Red Dog Got my Android version working with images finally. I was able to include the pubdate on my rows and use a image placeholder for articles that don't include an image link. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73858894/androidRSS1.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73858894/androidRSS2.png Have you tested Twitter and Facebook feeds in yours and had any luck displaying them? I know they don't make it easy....

Have not tested any feeds like that. I have a meeting with David in 10 minutes about my plugin. Wish me luck ;-)

@reddog - we got FB and Twitter feeds working well thanks to a few tips here: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=0A3B6E201F6B449291EA810&currentPage=3 I'm putting those links/tips in my Android RSS readme for future use. You plug-in is great and displays these perfectly. $7.99 is a steal price for all that effort. So glad to have the standard RSS feeds working natively on both platforms now. Thanks again for bringing this iOS version back to the market :)

Thanks ATRAIN53. Hopefully you saw my instructions to enable images (self hosted) in the RSS reader here: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=E7F0DAEC77CC094ACD8DC3A&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=1
