Can't get app to install within Eclipse... beginning to get desperate!

Aaaaaaarrrggghhhh!! I am getting a bit desperate having spent too many hours and days trying to get my app up and running in Android (it is already in the app store for iOS). I have downloaded Eclipse etc a few times, have installed the Google API 2.2 8 rev2. I have had the simulator show with the title of the app and a hello world screen and/or show the title of the app then crash out before launching it. Here is a screenshot of my latest failed attempt... https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3433634/Screen%20Shot%202013-04-01%20at%2022.56.04.png If anyone would like to try- I'd be happy to mail a copy of the Buzztouch download to try in their Eclipse to see if the problem might be there. But I think it is probably in the way I have it set Eclipse up, or how I am trying to import the Buzztouch code. I have been through the Buzztouch U Android learning path and watched GoNorthWest's great vids. I have printed off a pile of his guides too. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? The one thing I am fairly certain of is that there will probably be one simple and stupid mistake right at the bottom of it all :( Thanks to all... Chris

It looks to me though that you haven't got google api 11 installed. Go to the SDK manager in eclipse and download everything you can! It'll take a while. (you can see the SDK manager in your screenshot, it's an icon along the top with the white down arrow).

Didn't the Google API get updated to Google API 3.0 Level 11? Might be your problem. -Shane

Buzztouch hasn't made it a requirement to move to Google API 11 yet. API 8 is the one you want to use. If you would like to do a TeamViewer session, I can check your config. Just send me an email at MrkFleming at gmail dot com, and we'll get it worked out! I think it's probably something pretty simple. Mark

After Properties, it Android, and pick the Google API. Not bad for 1AM, @trouty! Also, you can try a Project...Clean to break any old code links and essentially start the compile from scratch. That often cleans up errors. Mark

Thanks guys for all your pointers. The errors were about Google API 11. I had installed that in earlier fights with Eclipse, but got not much further. As Mark said- Buzztouch doesn't really need them so I got rid of them again. Trouty's tip - properties-Android-pick Google API 8 got it to go further without worrying about API 11. Great, but it still would not launch in the simulator. Mark's kind offer to have a look through 'Teamviewer' should get to the heart of it. Perhaps I have messed up the installation by adding and deleting stuff too many times. I reckon this Android stuff maybe leaves invisible files behind? Anyway, I'll report back on my embarrassing failings when Mark has found me out.... Again, thanks for your help. Chris

Yes eclipse does leave hidden files so to remove it, you'll need to use terminal to get rid of a couple of files.

Hi All. The problem is fixed! @raveyd tried my Buzztouch download package in his Eclipse set-up and found the fault- the download package had become corrupted somewhere along the way and had an empty src file. I downloaded a fresh Android package from Buzztouch and this time all was fine... Thanks for all your help everyone. Chris
