New version of Eclipse

I looked at android video tutorials and it is using old version of elipse. the new version which i downloaded from the website has changed some of its features like when adding a device in Virtual Device Manager, when I click add, it asks me device along with target and name. and when I run the project from source code, it doesnt show up on emulator. please advice and advice what device, API to choose.

Hi @HeerShah, I have a number of videos available on how to install the latest Android ADT Bundle, which includes everything you need to get started. The only thing extra you need to do will be to install the required Google API, which is clearly explained in the video. https://www.youtube.com/user/GoNorthWest/videos?view=0&flow=grid There are videos for most operating systems, so hopefully this helps out! Thanks a ton Mark & LA. It's only because I am new to this website and this whole software and I got a bit worried because the version was new. I have one silly question. When I unzip the actual file (SDk ADT bundle), where do I save this in windows? I saved these files in C drives and when i download extra tools from SDK manager, in diolog box it says access denies. What location shall I download it instead? please advise. Heer

You can save the files anywhere you want. I create an "Android Development" folder on my C drive, and then extract them to there. For the other part, try to right-click on Eclipse.exe, select Run As Administrator, then open up the SDK Manager. That might take care of the permission problem. Mark

Hey @HeerShah, I follow @GoNorthWest video step by step and it works great. Try unzipping it in your downloads, or wherever your downloads go, and when unzipped move them to C drive like the video, which create a folder called Android Development. You may have to right click and run as administrator for the first time or restart Eclipse for the SDK manager. LA

Hi, I did watch his videos and Its amazing. However, I get errors and I get worried a lot because of time constraints. Mark, I saw your video from "BT control panel to Android Emulator". Everything is perfect until in console it says Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY [2013-04-01 22:06:30 - BT_activity_root] Please check logcat output for more details. [2013-04-01 22:06:30 - BT_activity_root] Launch canceled!

Can you show me what it says in LogCat? If you don't have the LogCat window, check out my video tutorial on adding Views to Eclipse. Mark

Sweet! Yep, you'll need to do that from time to time, because it seems like Eclipse forgets. But now you know how! Rock on! Mark
