I changed com.google.android.gms:play-services from 8.1.0 to 6.5.87 and errors are gone.

It's a little squirrelly, the first few times you use Android Studio... Like Miku says; check your Google Play version listed in your 'build.gradle' file, but those errors 'look' like you're using the wrong compiler. Whatever your latest version 'of compiler' is, use it. Cheers! -- Smug

That was the solution to my problem :) i post this instructions i found around the net for future reference (as i couldn check older version of play services in Android Studio panel ) There is a solution for android studio: 1.Close your project 2.Browse to the folder where your projects has been saved 3.Go to folder 'app' and open the file 'build.gradle' find this line : compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services:7.3.0' and change the version (here 7.3.0) to an older one (like 6.5.87). You can find out available versions by looking at sdk/extras/google/m2repository/com/google/android/gms/play-services 5.open the project again SmugWimp where is the option for the compiler ? to check it also..

Well, 'rule of thumb' is to use the latest 'compile' version you have... This is the sdk level you compile 'with'. So, in those first couple of lines, you can see you have sdk build 23.0.2, but you're using version 14. Try moving the sdk version to '23' and see of that makes anything smoother. in the 'defaultConfig' that is the 'target' sdk version for the app you're compiling 'for'. By default it's 14, and if you're good with that, leave it be. But sometimes, depending on the features you implement, you may need to alter that. usually to a higher version. Cheers! -- Smug

Look at the build.gradle (Module app) you get after downloading the app from the BT server. Unless something has changed, there will be a line buildToolsVersion "22.0.1" I also use compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-ads:7.5.0' Use option File >> Project Structure >> Ads and click on the square for AdMob ads. After OK, Android Studio will add the line for google play services into the build.gradle file. It would be really nice if there was a way to do all that automatically, but it really is not that bad.

Did anybody else successfully insert Google Map in Android Studio?

I got no success by simply changing the version of "Google Play Services" by editing the build.gradle file at app/build.gradle … I changed "8.4.0" to "7.5.0" but still got errors.

By the way, as soon as I use Android Studio to glance at File > Project Settings and look at the Google Play settings, it overrides what I had manually inputted. It switches it back to "8.4.0" and I still have errors. The errors then are different, but I have errors both ways.

After you change Google play services, you need to click "Sync now" in right upper corner.

Miku What you mention here (syncing) is not an option for me. I have no earlier version of Google play services to select and sync. If I manually input an earlier version into the build.gradle file, as soon as Android Studio gets a chance to, it overrides that by putting in the later version. When I go to SDK Manager, there are no earlier versions of Google play services offered for me. I have no way to select anything earlier and sync it. ??

Whenever it says sync -- it will be synced, it simple cannot work in any other way. The advice from the other thread to downgrade the version of Google Services may not be applicable to your case. It probably worked because all the files that were needed were on the machine already, from earlier downloads. It is highly improbable that that will work for you as your setup is different. Android is Google's world and Google's rules. They mandate to use the highest version of the Google Play service so abide by that, don't downgrade. So, what to do? There is a PDF document that comes with the download from the server, read it and do things exactly as it says there. There will be an image or two of the SDK files that you must have for Buzztouch to work so be sure to download them. You will also need version 14 as BT is geared towards that and will not work with higher versions without that part of the SDK. By the way, you probably won't see Version 14 in the list until you click on "obsolete". There are changes in the Buzztouch structure as well to consider. A year ago, it worked with 22.0.1, now it is buildToolsVersion "23.0.2" That in turn means that nothing will work until you downloaded version 23 of the SDK... and so on. With Android, you are constantly on guard for new SDK versions and downloads.
