Parse.com adds online e-commerce option

Parse.com has added the ability to accept payments in mobile apps. Using Stripe - http://www.stripe.com - The integration with Parse allows mobile developers to easily take advantage of Stripe’s payment processing platform. More details: http://blog.parse.com/2013/03/21/build-an-e-commerce-mobile-app-on-parse-and-stripe/ I'll be checking this out this week. -William

interesting. I didn't see a price on what they'll be charging per swipe. I use Stripe as the paywall on my website and have been wanting to integrate it into my apps if I ever get around to it. What's interesting about Stripe is that they let you add on a surcharge of your own per card swipe. My guess is that's what Parse is doing - free money for them basically.

I saw 2.9% + 30 cents as the fee on one of their pages. I'll see if I can find it again. -William

This is the Stripe.com pricing page: https://stripe.com/us/help/pricing "When you charge money with Stripe, you pay a fee of 2.9% + 30¢ per successful charge." Not sure if there is a different fee with Parse.com involved. -William

We're in the process of re-thinking our payment processor. What a nightmare! Stripe seems appealing for sure. Today, we have an old-fashioned merchant account + payment gateway setup. The merchant account hammers us for fees (especially with international cards, OMG) and the payment gateway digs even more from us. It's frustrating to think how much we're paying for something that should be simple - right? I've added Stripe to the WE SHOULD CHANGE to this list.

I def recommend it. It requires a lot more coding than most, but you gain a ton of flexibility. The only issue for Buzztouch might be international payments

Good points Chris. I think the international payments would be easier? Stripe says they support them and our processor triples the fees for anything non-us. I do think the complexity may be a bit tedious but if it saves some $ it'll be worth it? Thanks. SO STOKED you're coming to St. Louis, can't wait to meet you.

Thanks - I'm really looking forward to St Louis too! If they support international payments now, then I say go for it. You won't be disappointed. When I started using them last fall, it was US only, but that was fine for my business model.
