App content requirements for approval

I know recently there was another question concerning this but instead of taking over that entry I decided to make my own. How big of a problem will Apple have if my app contains a list of articles? Basically it's a news app but it will be all using Custom URLs. I saw this quote by Mark: "Apple loves integration of native iOS features, and interactivity that is engaging and encourages the user to return often." This is an engaging app and users should/will return. Also I will integrate all the Share options so it should be interactive...So what are my chances here? Denis

You can almost boil it down to this: How much of the app is 'Apple' and how much is technology that could be reproduced outside of an iPhone with no conversion (ie, a 'web' app). More Apple, more chance. Less Apple, less chance. That's about as 'good' as it gets, because as you know, Apple 'guidelines' are not hard and fast, and can vary from reviewer to reviewer. Good luck with it all! Cheers! -- Smug

So what can I do to make it more 'Apple' from BT? Use more plugins instead of just one? Denis

Well, if the only plugin you're using is HTML then absolutely. If only for 'frill', throw as many 'native iOS' features as possible. This would include such plugins as Notepad, Quiz, Paint, Kittsy's Menus, and things of that nature. They tend to (in varying degrees) exploit certain features of iOS that aren't available on other platforms. I recently had an App rejected that was 'all' iOS, but they said it was 'too simple', so features alone aren't always the benchmark. It's a silly game, with no hard and fast rules. Good Luck! One of the first apps I submitted was a collection of news links for a popular video game and it got rejected for reason 12.3 - "12.3 - Apps that are simply web clippings, content aggregators, or a collection of links, may be rejected" that's the main one that I would be worried about
