configuration cannot be published

Went to upload a new APK for an app. New APK is version code 3, version 1.5 . Previous one is version code 2, version 1.1 After it uploads I get the following message in Google Play: This configuration cannot be published for the following reason(s): All devices that might receive version 2 would receive version 3. Some devices are eligible to run multiple APKs. In such a scenario, the device will receive the APK with the higher version code. The actions that are shown are delete for this new APK version 3 and archive for version 2. This did not happen when I uploaded 1.1 from 1.0 What do I do? Thanks. Steve

I archived the old version and it seemed to then let me publish the new one. Not quite sure why I didn't have to go through that the first time around (1.0 to 1.1) but I'll see in a few hours if all is well.

That's very strange. The versionName is just a string, and can be anything. It's what the user sees. The versionCode has to be incremented from the previous version in order for it to be an upgrade, which it sounds like you did. Maybe previously it archived the old version for you? Very interesting!
