Best ways to promote app

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what people have done to promote their app and get more downloads. I've tried submitting my app to all of the review sites but no one reviewed it. Does anyone have ideas? Thanks, David

Everyone has a best method. I do my marketing locally, as my apps are driven by my community, not the platform. A lot of folks seem to enjoy dropping $5 over at fiver.com to have someone review their app... With decent results, I might add. Do a site search for 'app promotion' and see what pops up. Some ideas are conventional, some are rather over the top, but there are many many different ways, it's just a matter of finding them. Good luck! Cheers! -- Smug

I used to go to the "promo" section of the TouchArcade.com forums and post contests for my apps. It's a ridiculously active forum...a lot of big name developers use it for the same purpose. To enter, people had to download the app from the store and leave a review, then post proof of the review on the forum. I would then put all of the entries into a random generator to see who would win a $50 iTunes gift card. So if you're looking for review that's a good option. Here's the link - http://forums.toucharcade.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22 The Tap for Tap network is also pretty cool...I just got it up and running in my first app. Just like every other ad network, you show their ads in your app - the only difference is that you have the option to use the clicks on those ads as income for yourself or as credits for your own free advertising

Include FB and Twitter to your apps and motivate people to post it. There are tons of marketing companies around, but I would also probably stick with the AdMob, iAd. If you want higher CPM, you can try also AirPush (Android only) - but be prepared for comments that their marketing is striking the line of decent privacy. It is very difficult to get to the first places of downloads, someone who figured out how to do it would not share that know-how :) I tripped over webinars with Chad Mureta - you can just google it. That is the person who made millions with fingerprint reader prank, etc. Now he is promoting his marketing expertise. Cheers! Frogman

Facebook is a good one - I've discovered that Facebook + Appoxee push notifications are an amazing combination A couple weeks ago I posted a question on a Facebook page that I created for one of my apps. After a couple hours I realized it was hardly getting any responses so I sent a push notification asking the same question with the line "tap here to reply on our Facebook page". After that I got something like 500 replies in one hour...crazy

Which app review sites have you contacted? Try these 170+ from Maniacdev http://maniacdev.com/2012/05/ios-app-review-sites/ or Tapscape, a PR 5 tech blog with over 200k pageviews/month and 25k Twitter followers http://tapscape.com/submit-app-review/ . I also liked Absentia's suggestion re. running a contest in Touch Arcade. The forums is populated with gamers and developers which could provide exposure to your app.
