Upload a photo

I would like a plugin to take a photo or select one from the album of the device and upload it to my server...it seems there was the screen Image_Uploader as I see in the v1.5 docs but not now...How is it to lose funcionality? Thanks

Wow, I was just signing on to post this exact same topic. Anyone have or know if there is a plugin in the works for something like this. This was a great tool in 1.5. Thanks

Well shoot. I forgot about that one. You could email it to your server? Using this one?: The plugin for 2.0 is called "Email Image" and it's FREE :-)

Ya, I have GoNorthWest's 'email image' plugin in one of my apps, and it works great. Allows a user to either take a photo and email it, or select a photo from the device and email it. https://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/plugin.php?pid=A9C6C1CF0FEE84403C554B8 Cheers! -- Smug

You mean image out of the device and on to the server? In that situation, I would probably end up using an HTML plugin, or customURL plugin, to use an external Page/PHP Script from the server to accept an image from the device. Cheers! -- Smug

Well, the default image can sometimes be a little misleading, but basically you just 'tap' the screen, and it will bring up a little menu to choose... Cheers! -- Smug

If I use the email plugin, how can I email it to my server?

I really do not understand...with the email image plugin I can choose/take a image and send it via email, if I have a customURL screen I can connect it with a php script to upload the image, but...how do I post it?

With the email image plugin you take a picture, or choose a photo from the gallery (that is inside the device) and it will pull up an email template that you address to [email protected], and it includes the image as an attachment. If you're going to use a customURL or HTML plugin, the distant end server would be responsible for that. If it's your server, then you'll need to write some kind of way to receive images from your app. This is usually a php script, although it doesn't have to be. Where do you want to post it? If you mean put it on a server for public display, if it's your server, you will need to either write the code, or figure out a way to integrate it in your site. Give us a few more details on what exactly you want to do, and we'll give you our best guess on how to go about doing it. Cheers! -- Smug

When the app user take/chosse a image I would need to know the url where it is uploaded to show it afterwards. You mean I need a php script listening the email sent by email image plugin...I think it is a bit awkward...Shouldn't be better a ScreenData URL field in the plugin (as v1.5 had)? Otherwise, I could send the image to flickr/picasa but then I do not know where (URL) is allocated to show it when I needed...

If you want the user to put it up on a website, then yes, a customURL or HTML Plugin would be a much better fit. That would require a php script to accept the file and display it on your server. If you have your own server, then you'll just need to script a little upload/display function. It can be simple, or it can be complex, it's up to you. Cheers! -- Smug
