Button Images and other images NOT showing in Eclipse simulator

I have the same problem, my images are not showing up and I am using eclipse. But when I download the source file, I see Bt_Docs,BT_Video but I don't see an images folder or BT_Images. Been working on this for 4 days now. Also the eclipse simulator continues the load projects (or Icons) that I have deleted days ago. Is there a way to fix this?

@HerrNathan is correct : for Android, any images (like tab icons, background images, etc) need to go into the res > drawable folder. If you are including images with an HTML document, they should both (image and HTML) go into the BT_Docs folder. For a clean run, try doing a Project...Clean in Eclipse, which will break all the old code paths and start from scratch. Mark

Hey Mark, I am the guy you helped on youtube AtlantaAppMogul. Okay I put 2 images in the res/drawable folder the images were button images 60x60 png. I ran eclipse and before I started to do anything else, I got these error messages: [2013-03-11 12:45:50 - BT_activity_root] res\drawable\Shock_Pic.png: Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.] [2013-03-11 12:45:50 - BT_activity_root] res\drawable\Shock_Pic.png: Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.] [2013-03-11 12:45:50 - BT_activity_root] res\drawable\Yen_coin_pic.png: Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.] [2013-03-11 12:45:52 - BT_activity_root] res\drawable\Shock_Pic.png: Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.] [2013-03-11 12:45:52 - BT_activity_root] res\drawable\Shock_Pic.png: Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.] [2013-03-11 12:45:52 - BT_activity_root] res\drawable\Yen_coin_pic.png: Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.]

Think I found the problem with the error messages. lower case letters and numbers: [2013-03-11 12:45:52 - BT_activity_root] res\drawable\Yen_coin_pic.png: Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.] this part of error message: "Invalid file name: must contain only [a-z0-9_.]" I'll see what happens.

Yep. No caps, no spaces, no special characters. Just numbers, underlines, and lower case letters. Mark

Hi @mobileappmogul, Is this still the same app you spent all that money on with App Code 2.0? Do you have access to the control panel of your app? Or did they just send you the source code?

Yes it is! and I sent support tickets to them and no answer. I have access and I think I know what you were talking about yesterday and where to find that.

Did not work. images still not showing up. And I can see them in the folder in the Package Explorer res/drawable file. I used a new icon and it showed but not the images or the new button I added. Only the icon change.

What kind of images are these? Are they part of an HTML doc? If so, they should go into BT_Docs with the HTML file. Or are they GUI images like buttons for tabs or background images? When you added them to your res > drawable folder, did you hit F5 in your Project to refresh? Mark

Videos are so helpful! It looks to me like your configuration file is out of sync, and you're not being prompted for an update for some reason (maybe no network connection?). You can force it by hitting Menu...Refresh All Data. Menu was the button you had your pointer over at the end. If that doesn't work, sync your config file per the video that I have on my YouTube channel. I did verify in one of my apps that Menu Button Screen icons should go into res > drawable, so you are good there. In the control panel, make sure that, under Button Layout, Color, you set the color to clear. That should let the image show through. Give that all a try and let me know what happens! Also...I did notice that you launched your app in the simulator before the Console reported the apk had been uploaded and launched. The simulator is super slow, so give it time. You should have a message about the Home Process being loaded (or something like that) before the app launches. Mark

Appreciate that, I will try to use a short video when explaining things. Okay Mark, I will try everything you suggested and I will go to your youtube video "sync your config file" Thanks so much again for all your help and patience

Interesting video... Boy, I hate the simulator, lol! sometimes it works fine, but it's always going to be slow.... I can't help but wonder if your config.txt file is the 'most recent version'... One thing I usually do is copy a 'fresh' copy of the config.txt file from the BT Control panel, and paste it into my project (replace existing text). This way, the project reflects the most recent changes without a refresh. I'm wondering if the changes you made in the control panel are 'there', but the app doesn't realize it because it hasn't refreshed it's config file...? Check your config file for the items you're looking for; screens, images on buttons, etc... If not, either 'force refresh' your app, or copy/paste recent config.txt into your app... Cheers! -- Smug

Hi SmugWimp, yeah, I actually did that by Mark suggestion and it still did not load my images. I went to the config file, copy and pasted to the project file and the same thing. Been on this 4 days now. Thanks

Hi Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have recently started using BZ 2.0 with Ec;ipse and can't get the images to show on the menu buttons. The buttons are clear, images have been copied into drawable. The only thing I can't seem to change is buttonOpacity. It just crashes the app when I change that - should that be set to zero? Thanks Jon

So, this is strange, because I have a BT v2 app with button menu images that works just fine! So, let's review some of the basics to make sure all is well on your end: * For Android, image files should be named using the a_z0_9 naming convention, which means no spaces, caps, or strange characters * Images for buttons should be in the res > drawable folder * For my images, I used a png file with a transparent background * My control panel settings for the button image are as follows: - Button Color : Clear - Label Font Color : #FFFFFF - Button Opacity : <blank> - Size : 70 - Margin : 30 Some of your settings may differ depending on your project, but this is a guide to get you started. Check it all out, then let us know what's up. If it's still broke, paste some output from LogCat at the time you are loading the button menu, and we can debug further. We'll get this! Mark
