You can find this file in res--->values folder. In this file the very first string is the app_name. Just change the name of the app in this field. That would mean that although my answer is 'sort of correct' (meaning, it 'can' be done that way) I concur with Sandeep, after taking a look. He's 'more' correct, lol! So instead of hardcoding in manifest file proper way is to edit the app name in strings file. Similarly you can change any other strings in there. @LA- From what you suggest, it would change the package name and not the app name.
