App active notification/icon in Android?

I recently published both an iOS and Android version of an app made through BT! Thanks to all who helped me through that. Now the client has a question about the Android version: 1. The app simply plays an audio (mp3) stream when user taps a button in app. When user leaves app, audio continues, which is good. But to stop audio, user has to re-enter app. How do I put an "active app" notification/icon at top left of home screen to make it easier for user to re-enter app and stop audio? 2. When in the app and a person clicks the "menu" or sometimes called "options" can there be a "Close" or "Quit" option to shut down the app? Perhaps someone has already addressed these concerns in a tutorial somewhere? Thanks in advance!

I am currently working on a sound bite maker for Android. I have only started, though, so my advice will not be very in-depth. 1. As for the notification/icon on the home screen, I would suggest working on something unique to Android: widgets. 2. For this, I would probably modify the code from Eclipse to include that option. probably a command like the return 0 statement of C

Thanks, matt. Will look into those suggestions.
