I am in the process of trying it out. I have a GameSalad for beginners eBook. Created my first platform game with ease! Put off slightly by the $499 fee to be able to implement alot of features (GameCentre for example)

@georgios - If you are ios kinda guy gamesalad or stency lboth will do and if you are android to than probably stencyl because they have no resolution problems..Stencyl is more into it..

mmm...I see. Except android support are there more advantages when using stencyl or gamesalad? which one would you characterize as "more easy to learn and create" and more "user friendly" ?

Those platforms are good but Buzztouch has spoiled us such with the open source code.. Both Gamesalad and Stencyl don't allow you to use your own - ad networks. You are limited to their partners which I find :/ .. Other platforms that use the coding language LUA has caught my attention for the past two years. Corona for example is great but of course a bit expensive. Many plugins, snippets and free code out their to get started. While I like any platform where you can visually make a game - there are some limits in terms of getting access to the code and placing my own ads.

@Mysps - Buzztouch has really spoiled us there is no platform which provides you the source code of the apps and as low as 4$ a month.

It seems Gamesalad has dropped their Pro pricing to $299. That is more reasonable. My problem is I need someone that can create artwork before I can ever endeavor on such a project!

Marmalade SDK has some decent prices. $149/yr for android and iOS. Its C++ and/or supports some web programing languages. There are some add ons that allow you to use Lua. Been itching to get a license. Just need more free time. http://www.madewithmarmalade.com/marmaladesdk

Yeah @nadthevlad... They have BB10 and Windows Phone Support. Marmalade Quick looks like a pretty option. http://www.madewithmarmalade.com/quick At least with the lua addons!

Hey Guys. I am currently (as we speak) working with Construct 2. http://www.scirra.com/construct2 I have done my research in the past couple of months for an HTML5 game engine and have found Construct 2 to be easier and affordable out of them all. It's not shy on features either. I have made a demo, check it out here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10677307/game/index.html (use arrow keys) You can export to ios, android, windows 8, facebook and more. I deal alot with Android and found that all I have to do is export the game as HTML5 and use PhoneGap's Sample Android hello build as a container. Which means you can use Buzztouch as a container also.

@mysps Not a problem. I didn't know it was Windows only. Thanks for pointing that out. We are making two games right now for mobile, and using this engine cuts the learning curve and time to develop down considerably. For $99 one time fee, it's worth it. The forum is just like ours here with many people interested in helping.

Yousicc, I tried to play the demo on my Mac, it does not want to go further than the nice 3D sound in the beginning. So it is confirmed you need to be on Redmont. Cheers, Frogman

@mysps - I've been checking out GameSalad because I would like to make a game. I thought I read somewhere that I could download the code and open in Xcode....I thought it sounded kinda like Buzztouch. No??

@sxywebgirl. I tried Gamesalad in the past but it was in the very beginning and I didn't understand a thing so I can't comment on it. I have been dabbling with Lua and I will try construct2 possibly. It depends on how well HTML5 game works on ios and android. I would love to have a go at Unity but just not enough time in the day :/

Yeah Unity is my next go around. But Construct 2 is doing well for me now. I compile my mobile games by using Cocoonjs which compiles for ios and android. They are enabling WebGl on the platform soon, which will make effects look great. If you need some samples of apps made with construct 2 let me know.

I know this post was starlet quite some time ago. It seems GS has some recent updates; unity seems great as well (but rather expensive). Any favs these days?

Unity is great. And there is a free version now. But I am still going to stick with my Construct 2. And Unity of course.
