Windows Phone and BT?

I saw an article yesterday saying that the windows phone now has 100,000 apps. In iOS terms, this is very, very new. I got involved in iPhone app development somewhere near this point on iOS and it was a lot easier to make a buck or two then! Does BT have any plans to extend to this format? I might dig in with it and see what its like.

I'm more interested in seeing what the blackberry market will be like in the next year or so :-) Don't think windows is gaining much traction at all considering it's been out for years now, still haven't ever had a client ask me about it, but always get questions about blackberry! Good point. I thought I saw somewhere ages ago Blackbery could be used with android with a bit of tweaking? Without question, here in the UK the Blackberry is the teen phone of choice.

I think a few of our top buzztouch friends here have "converted" a android app to blackberry, can't remember who, maybe macapple/gonorthwest? Never have attempted it myself through :) David https://buzztouchmods.com

Android and iOS are still at 90%. http://mobilemarketingmagazine.com/content/usa-surpasses-50-smartphone-penetration Alex: When you got in the iOS market, back in the day, there was no other market (google play, windows, etc.) We are not saturated yet but I would think that the pricing structure is more standardized and equalized. The money available in Microsoft for pushing their solutions is enormous, although they were only able to give out hw (Nokia phones) for free to developers in return of programming 3 apps. In my opinion this is very artificial construct, driven by huge investment of MS who need to prove to their extremely hungry and unsatisfied shareholders that MS is right on track of growth. It is not to be underestimated, situation may be different in a few years if they continuously dump money in... Imagine if they just give out good looking phones for 1$ to users through operator networks, then they would be able to capture a lot of connections. Such market would drive demand for apps. On the other hand, they are not able to capture individual motivation of designers yet, like Google and Apple does. BlackBerry grew on corporations, they missed the end user market worldwide, but now they have even more chances than MS. Cheers! Frogman

If BT con introduce an HTML5 or JQuery Mobile addition to the platform then we could create apps for all platforms. Not sure where BT would start, but there are many html/css, html5, Jquery mobile developers out there and maybe a deal with Phone Gap to wrap the apps in Windows, Blackberry and Symbian frameworks would help. The only draw back and I'm guessing its a big one, is native plugins that can communicate with the handsets for these other platforms. I do agree though, these other platforms have very little of the market between them.

You can already use html5 and jquery mobile in your BT apps using the HTML doc plugin. I prefer native approaches though, which is what makes BT so cool
