Looking for feedback with medical app on iOS

I've created a few apps but my favorite is an emergency medicine app called ERres. I have spent countless hours on this app during my residency training and it does okay in the app store but I'm always looking for ways to make it better. The app itself is mostly menus (menu with image) linked to html screens with a few new custom calculators. Anyways, if you could check it out and give feedback on general layout and specifically the html files themselves (style, font, color, etc) I'd really appreciate it! It usually sells for 3.99 but is free for the next 24 hours. Thanks in advance!! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/erres-emergency-medicine-in/id413192645 Josh

I've check it out tonight but I wouldn't listen to anything I say! Screenshots look solid enough, I hear you though, probably tough to give a medical app some pizazz (sp) Will get my good lady and her keen eye to play with it and pretend her smart comments are mine. Need to do some video editing for someone but will look in tonight. Ps/Edit/Whatever Having a play now...... Will post back.

I am also a new developer just starting the process of making my first app. I am also a paramedic and I downloaded your app some time ago. I love it, it has a ton of useful, easy to get to information. As an end-user, I think it's great. Keep up the good work!

Much improved over the old pastel colored version. Lots of good info. Nice job on the HTML calculators. I'll put some of it to use in the field. Not bad for a doc. ;-) Tim

Good job. I find having to repeatedly press the 'back' button to return to the home page a little inconvenient when I am several screens deep. What about setting up a tabbed layout and making one of those tabs a short cut to the home screen. Not sure what else you could include within the tabs... Perhaps some of the information in your info link (on the top-right part of the screen). The calculator perhaps? I wonder if you could pull hospital or clinic locations from somewhere so that a user could find their nearest medical center. Perhaps make that a tab. What negative feedback where you getting with the social functions? I am about to embed Socialize in my ... Did people have a problem with it? Nice looking icons.

Thanks for the feedback. The calculators aren't html screens but custom plugins. I designed them but had to find someone on elance to do the coding for me because that was WAY over my head. Now I have to do the same for the android version (at some point). Iaxia: I used to have the app set up so you could "shake" to get back home but never worked all that well so I took it off. With this last update I added that rewind button to the top right nav bar for all end screens (the html screens). When someone hits that rewind button it takes them back to the homescreen. I want to have a home icon instead but haven't figured out how to do that yet. As with socialize, the overwhelming response was negative. I was told it was annoying, self-promoting, and amateurish. Users are always leaving feedback stating they want to be able to create notes. Another big push lately in the medical community is Web 2.0 where learners can interact with and teach each other. I thought socialize would solve both problems. But after a few months there was maybe 3 comments left by users. And MANY more complaints. So away it went. Thanks again everyone!

Hi Josh, here is my feedback: The home screen is great, exactly this is my vision of a useful menu. Very understandable, perfect consistent, nothing distracting attention. You won my first impression! I would suggest to change search and info buttons though: if you want to sell it to as many customers possible, you should make facebook, google plus, twitter and linked in buttons very visible. Your customer will share their discovery, but they may not be forced to search for those buttons. Nobody cares for a small i letter in the upper right corner. So the Search function can go there and social networks can be in the bottom of your home screen. This may multiple your sales. In terms of colors, maybe you can try dark blue instead of black theme. Black is good, dark blue is even better, it has no connection to death, which may be sometimes perceived with black. In local anesthetics, I am missing a link on what to do if you get an anaphylactic shock. That can happen quite often, you should be prepared. In agitation I am missing a warning that you may never administer benzodiazepins to a person under influence of alcohol, the combination is fatal, there is no cure for it yet to my knowledge. In terms of your own safety I would put first a screen where everyone who is going to use your app is agreeing that you are not responsible for any action made based on information from your app. Tapping that screen would bring forward the home screen. Consult your lawyer anyway. In my country it would be very difficult to sue someone for saving someone's life, but remember Mr. Incredible :) I am missing leveraging the fanclub you created. Where is your web, where is your blog? If you are able to put together this wonderful resource (my greatest respect, I would not be able to do it better and hopefully I could do about the same quality after a lot of work). In the web you can advertise other good medical resources and get money for it, you can influence patients and create your own clientele. You can organize courses for other people. Last thing: your app can be localized to other languages if you want to make money. Think about chinese, hindu, russian, portugese and spanish. There are always other possible languages like German, but there are many good apps in Germany. What about writing e-mails to other medical schools saying its there, have a look? Give them some redeem codes which they can lottery in their social events... Good luck and thank you for giving it out for free today. I hope I deserved it. I have a M.D. but do not practice for about 10 years, I would either die from hunger if I do it according to my conscience, or get to jail for bribery if I did what the majority of "doctors" does in my country, or emmigrate towards some civilisation if I wanted to do medicine. You put a post since I was finishing this, so I just add a few words: the world of medicine is far from being open minded towards colleagues and patients, you just disregard such clowns who have no good word for a good thing. I had so much of that crap all the time during university and short practice, that I am tired of it. Just delete that from your mind and from your web. Cheers! Rudi the Frogman
