Android Screen Data URL help

I'm having issues making the Screen Data URL working with the Menu with Image plugin (or any Android plugin for that matter). It's a breeze on iOS. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this? I need to remake my app in Android (ugh!) that has about 300 screens. Not looking forward to do this without utilizing the Screen Data URL. What would be extremely helpful: A sample .txt file that I could examine. But I'll take any help at all! Thanks, Andy

I do things pretty much the same way on both platforms... I'm not sure which part you're asking about, other than dataURL, and that works fine for me. What part isn't working for you? Cheers! -- Smug

Specifically, I'm not able to reuse my Screen Data URL's from iOS because I built it with the BTA Design Menu (iOS only). When I look at the JSON in the Configuration Data that Buzztouch generates, it's adding these "itemID" strings of 23 characters. Where are these generated from? When I change them, to customize it, they break. I'd love a sample of how they should be setup so I can recreate. Are you using the Menu with Image plugin on Android, and using Screen Data URL? Thanks again for your help! Andy

Oh. Well, that 23-25 character string is the 'Identifier' for that specific screen. That's the rub that keeps me from re-creating menus in our screen copy utility. Yuck, lol! If you're trying to 'recreate' the screens without building them, you'll need to use some kind of 'loadScreenObject' script to build them on the fly. I'm not sure if it directly relates to what you're trying to do. But one of the apps I'm (still...) working on uses my MySQL database to pull items from. I basically setup a single 'menu with image' screen, that initially gets loaded dynamically from a script. Subsequently, each 'drill down' of categories creates additional menu with image screens on the fly, displaying new data pulled from the database, until finally you're at a menu with image screen that has the locations on the menu buttons. Pressing that menu button will take you to a dynamically created web page with details on that particular menu item/location. I've put a sample of sorts here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/115208762/loadScreenObject.zip that you're welcome to inspect, tear apart, recreate, or ask questions on. Basically you would start out using the 'main' page as your dataURL string. ("dataUrl":"http://www.yourserver.com/menu00.php") Hope this helps, but if not, feel free to ask! Cheers! -- Smug

I target my local community, which for this island is about 50/50 iPhone/Android. So all of my stuff I build for both platforms, because I'm cutting off 50% of my market if I don't. Blah, heh. Cheers! -- Smug
