App takes a while to load

I have an app that I am testing in the xcode simulator and on my phone... I basically just changed the default.png and [email protected] to the image that I would like to show when the app opens and it can take up to 15-20 seconds for the app to start... does anyone know how I can changed it to open faster?

Is there a major difference in filesize? Is the new image in the app or pulled from a URL? Cheers! -- Smug

I have resized the image to the required 320x480 and 640x960 but do you think I should have it reference a URL instead?

No, referencing it from a URL will cause it to pull it online and it will take longer than if you keep it in xcode itself. Long loading times as Smug said, can be caused if the file is a large size.

Can I ask what do you mean a large size? Doesn't the default.png have to be 320x480?

Well, in this case I was speaking of file size, like 1.3MB versus 320k or so... that kind of difference... Larger filesize takes longer to load. And I was asking about URL because (at least until the image is loaded and cached) it will also take a little longer to load than an 'internal' image. And of course, a larger filesize via URL takes even longer than that. Just asking... Cheers! -- Smug
